Update: Crash cleared on eastbound West Seattle Bridge

5:42 PM: With the Alaskan Way Viaduct out of commission this weekend, the exits on the Spokane Street Viaduct – east half of the West Seattle Bridge – are carrying more traffic. That might be complicating matters now that there’s a four-car crash near the 4th Avenue South exit. Big backup on the bridge, according to the nearest cam:

(“Live” views are on the WSB Traffic page.)

5:53 PM: Multiple lanes are closed and an officer was just heard (via scanner) saying they’ll be closed “a while.

7:12 PM UPDATE: SDOT has tweeted that the scene is clear.

We just passed the accident heading westbound back to WS and the ambulance was leaving at 6pm. Bad crash. Hope everyone is ok. :(

Do you know if it’s cleared now? I can’t tell by the cameras. Thanks!

Clear day, sun not in your eyes, lots of traffic so speeds should be down, traffic going in the same direction, what could go wrong…
    Hang up and drive

Just drove the westbound spokane st. Accident looked really bad, hope everyone is ok. Traffic eastbound still a parking lot all the way to the steel mill. Doesn’t look like it will be moving any time soon.

It’s probably clear now but it sure scared the crud out of me. It was a red Soul half on the concrete divider and two silver cars. Everyone looked ok but shook up.
