High-school sports: Chief Sealth-WSHS volleyball showdown

Once again this year, it was more than just the classic crosstown rivalry in Tuesday night’s volleyball showdown between Chief Sealth International High School and visiting West Seattle High School – it was also a battle between the top two teams in their division. After 4 games, the Wildcats emerged with the win, three games to one, but that final game was especially hard fought, point by point:

More game scenes and notes, ahead:

The lead seesawed in that last game, until WSHS pulled out a three-point run at the end to take it, 25-21. They had won the third game 25-11, while Sealth won the second game, 25-15.

The Hawks’ Nest cheering section was there in force:

West Seattle’s Devon Fox sang the national anthem pre-game:

She and her teammates won the first game 25-16.

West Seattle hosts Franklin on Thursday night, varsity at 7 pm after JV and C at 5:45, while the schedule has Sealth playing next in a tournament Saturday at Glacier Peak.
