West Seattle traffic alert: 8th/Roxbury light out

A two-car crash this past hour did serious damage to the signal equipment at 8th and Roxbury – as shown in our photo – and the light is not working as a result. That means it’ll be slow going in that intersection for a while; a police officer is on site to direct traffic. No one was hurt in the crash.

How many days since we’ve had a rollover? We need a little counter on the website, like this sign. This neighborhood has gone _ days since a car rolled over.

This intersection is not designed for vehicles to make left turns from Roxbury to 8th ave in EITHER direction, as there should be a left turn lane given the high traffic volume. City and county should have redeveloped this intersection when Park Lake homes was renovated, now it probably too late given the frontage already there….

..and hey you! The guy in the 4-door Dodge pickup who stopped in the 7th Ave intersection and turned on your left blinker, effectively stopping an entire line of cars behind you who wanted to turn right and avoid the mess, when the lane in front of you was clear for a full block, please get a clue and notice the world around you!

The city did put a left turn only signal light when they did the Park Lk homes but it’s a short one and when the light turns on for the car to make their left just sits there for awhile before taking their left it’ll turn and then everyone is stuck there behind them. :>(

Just an FYI- I was behind one of the cars involved, we were driving westbound on Roxbury and the other car was taking a right from 8th. We had a green light and as the car in front of me was going through the intersection the right turning car pulled out in front of them. It had nothing to do with a left hand turn. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Sorry, comment time is over.
