Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth ferry alert: Down to 2 boats

Washington State Ferries says there’s a 90-minute wait out of Fauntleroy right now because the Klahowya is out of service and that’s taken the run to Vashon and Southworth down to two boats. Check here for the latest.

I take the ferry quite often to go to my family’s property on the Olympic Peninsula and so far this year the ferry has been late either departing or arriving by a big chunk of time…what is going on? I don’t remember it ever being this bad before.

There has been a line to at least the north end of Lincoln Park all day.

We were stuck in the long wait and delay on the Fauntleroy side for a couple hours early this afternoon to come to Vashon. Now we’ve been waiting an hour (since 7pm) on the Vashon side to come home – the 7:20 and 7:55 sailings on the two-boat schedule never happened, and based on rumors from other drivers who say they’ve talked with ferry dock staff, it looks like it might be half an hour or more til the next boat.

We got stuck waiting for an hour, they said it was a 20 min delay, last night at 11pm. I don’t frequent the ferry but every time I convince my husband to
‘Take the boat’ instead of driving around, we always seem to be compromised. I am losing battles with the spouse and we will forever be driving around…..bummer!

As long as the ferry Klahowya is on this run, don’t ever expect a schedule to be kept. The boat is “band-aided” together to keep it running – some part issue. It is my humble opinion that WSF is going to treat the Evergreen State class boats like they did the old steel electrics and just let them rot away and then will get funding for new boats.

Sorry, comment time is over.
