West Seattle traffic alert: Rollover crash off Roxbury

Thanks to WSB’er “smokeycretin” for sending the photo. Police and fire are handling a flipped-vehicle crash at 5th Place and Roxbury – on the westbound (city) side of Roxbury. Apparently no major injuries, since the callout has no medic unit so far. But the response, and eventual tow, are likely to affect traffic coming up the hill from 509/South Park for a while.

THanks WSB. A good reminder to slow down. The roads are built up with oil and schmootz from our dry summer. It will take a few rains to wash the roads.

Another thing is to check your tire’s tread depth :

Lucky that no other vehicles, pedestrians or bikes were involved/hurt. Thanks WS Blog for publishing incidents that mainstream media is not interested in covering despite that the community cares to know when it happens.

This portion of roadway ALWAYS has rollovers doesn’t matter what the weather conditions.

Coyote is right: that curve is very tight, and any cars/trucks with rear-wheel drive should really, really watch it in the rain.

There seems to have been several accidents on Roxbury in the last couple of weeks. Crazy road. Glad I don’t have to drive it very often. Hope the person/people in this accident were ok.

That turn is notorious for flipping vehicles when the roads are wet. I saw an identical accident last year.

Yep, people seem to think this is a great place to speed and tailgate! Note to macho’s, need to speeds, and drunks! slow down, this street is dangerous wet or dry, too may curves, and too hilly!

Sorry, comment time is over.
