The news just said that the money came from a sale of some city land. And would be used to fix pot holes. The city also said they might have to raise car tab fees. Just think every time you see one of thoses little white painted bike riders on the road, that could have been a fixed pot hole.

That’s all in the links provided here. Aside from the bike part.

It’s too bad that people want potholes filled in but don’t want to actually pay for it. The answer here is obviously higher tab fees and to further tax gasoline use by private individuals.

Hope they’re going to do something about the long pothole on California, the one that runs from Edmunds to Fauntleroy.

I find it strange that the city is selling land/buildings for a short term fix. What happens when they run out of things to sell and the roads still need to be fixed…..

    .
We did pay for it, the money went to other projects instead, like painting bicycle icons. In the end cyclists and drivers got the short end of the stick. Or in my case, blown tire, busted ball joint and 3 busted control arms.

coffee: mike mcginn addressed this in june’s “ask the mayor” on the seattle channel. the land sold was at aurora and mercer, and is part of the north DBT portal site for highway 99. total sale was $20 million, but city council has to approve its disbursement.

Keep the potholes. They’re the best speed control technology available!

Sorry, comment time is over.
