West Seattle businesses: New store for Nurturing Expressions

There’s no surer sign of a baby boom in West Seattle than a business boom in services for mothers with babies. Here’s the newest sign: Nurturing Expressions has just opened a store in The Junction. But owner Tracy Corey is no newcomer – she’s been running Nurturing Expressions since 2004, and is a board-certified lactation consultant (as well as a 20-year-veteran registered nurse). The store’s “we’re open!” announcement, however, says it’s not just a store for moms who choose to breastfeed their children: “Whether mothers choose to breastfeed, pump, bottle feed or do a combination, their team of consultants will support mothers and their babies through all stages of feeding.” For nursing moms, they have classes (here’s the current schedule), support groups, and merchandise, including breast pumps and nursing bras. And at the store, they have a private breastfeeding room where moms can get coaching and support. The store’s in Junction Tower – the same building as longtime WSB sponsor Westside Dermatology – 4746 44th SW (on the second floor). You’ll also find Corey and her coaching online – not just on the Nursing Expressions website, but also on Twitter as @theboobiecoach. (Photo courtesy Nurturing Expressions)

Any word on what is going in on California just north of Graham (I think it used to be a construction office)? Not talking about the construction work on the corner, but the second storefront north of that project.

No, it’s been papered over quite a while, and there’s nothing in city records indicating its future … TR

GREAT to have this resource in West Seattle! If you are a momma with breastfeeding difficulties- call this group for help. They are great! I got a pump from them, got personalized help with how to use it and troubleshooting for my baby’s latch problem. I didn’t have to give formula and saved thousands of dollars over the course of my baby’s first years!

This is so great to have something like this in W. Seattle. With my daughter I needed to go over to Birth and Beyond on Madison or to U Village when I needed various breast pump supplies. Target sells pumps but practically no accessories and of course no advice.

I’m really glad this opened here.

A warm welcome, Tracey! Moms, remember the co-op preschools have support and fun for moms and babies, too.

what a great resource! as a new mom, I am really excited to have this locally, i too end up going to Birth and Beyond which I love but it will be nice to support a local business.

Ditto, definitely excited to have this type of service in our neighborhood. I too spent a lot of time at Birth and Beyond and am excited that this resource will be here locally for baby #2. I hope they will consider doing newborn support group classes like at B&B … that saved my sanity as a new mom.

Ditto DV, I attended a few newborn support at B&B with my firstborn but it was a long way to trek with a new baby. It would be great to have something local.

    Oh very exciting.

I’ve been going over to B&B with 3-week-old Baby XX, nice to just have to walk over to the Junction!

Sorry, comment time is over.
