Will Seattle annex White Center? Suddenly looking less likely

Just up at partner site White Center Now: Seattle and Burien leaders’ reaction to a new City of Seattle report showing just how much it would cost Seattle to annex White Center (and other parts of the remaining unincorporated area). The Seattle mayor’s office, for one, is backing away from what at one point looked like a drive toward a vote this year. Here’s the story on WCN.

I’m actually glad, FOR WC. It’s an “up and coming” community that would lose all uniqueness if it were annexed. In fact, if we can ever sell our place in the Addmiral I’m pretty sure we’d look (and find) in WC. (Of course, when we lived in the SF bay area, we were looking in Oakland until we moved up here.)

Move from Admiral to White Center? Okay…

WC “would lose all uniqueness if it were annexed.” Ha! Highly unlikely. You misunderestimate the power of WC!

Bummer. I really think it would be for the best.

I wonder if Seattle would scoff at annexing Medina?

I am so excited at this news. The last thing WC needs is for Seattle to annex and then ignore it. Seattle is horrible with its minority laced neighborhoods. Sure, Queen Anne is great, but look at Rainier Valley, South Park, Central District, Hilman City, International District. Crime rates are outrageous there because they are ignored by Seattle police, and Seattle Urban Development. Also, Seattle police have a nasty habit lately of shooting its minority citizens.

As a business owner, dealing with Seattle building department, VS King County was night and day. The taxes on signs, square footage, B&O, sidewalks, etc, etc just do not exist for KC.0 I doubt I would of survived the first round of taxes and fees through Seattle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
