Election 2010: Newest King County results now out

(King County Councilmember-elect Joe McDermott thanking commuters at 35th/Fauntleroy this afternoon)
Without any really close local races, nothing has changed in terms of potential outcomes … but in case you’re tracking something else, we thought you’d want to know that King County is now out with today’s vote count. If you’re watching the statewide race for U.S. Senate, with the latest vote counts, Sen. Patty Murray is now two points ahead of Republican challenger Dino Rossi, 51% to 49%. P.S. The county says turnout already has exceeded projections – they thought they’d get about 68 percent of the ballots back, and they’re already up to 71 percent.

I bet there will be a recount. I wonder How close the Murray/Rossi race has to be for a mandatory recount?

See the Sec of State info here … it would have to be a LOT closer, I think.

2000 votes for an automatic, 1000 votes for manual

Last I heard a mandatory recount would be required if they were separated by 2000 or less votes. Currently they are separated by ~25000 votes.

1/2%, so this race is not even close to get a recount. Right now its about 2%

I believe the magic number for a mandatory recount is 2000 votes. If it’s outside of that range, someone besides us tax payers has to foot the bill.

great pic; 2 days ago he was standing on same corner soaking wet holding signs and waving in that record rain, and I thought, is this really what you have to do to get elected in Seattle? guess it was worth it; Go Joe!!! we know you’ll represent us well

Thanks, Joe. You were the only candidate out there today to thank us. Reinforces my reason for voting for you. I wish more politicians would remember who they work for.

Way to go Joe! Very happy you won! Definitely the “responsible” choice for West Seattle and more!

I’m so impressed with the thank you effort!!! How nice it is to see manners from a politician. After watching all the trash talking ads.

Are we sure this is Joe holding the sign? I believe this guy is Dave a supporter of Joe. I will find out and let you know.

Go Joe I did vote for him, glad to see he won.

Yes, that’s State Sen. and County Councilmember-elect Joe McDermott, whom we have interviewed/photographed/seen at various meetings/legislative sessions/etc. dozens of times, including while co-publisher Patrick and I went to 35th/Fauntleroy last night to take the photo. He did have a supporter with him, but this was the photo that worked the best for our story, so I’m just showing him, and not the both of them – TR
