West Seattle coyotes: Fairmount Springs sighting

From WSB Forums member BookGal, via e-mail:

I just witnessed a full grown coyote running up SW Juneau Street and head north on SW 37th Street [map]. Yes, in broad daylight! It almost looked like the crow was chasing the coyote and by all the very loud cawing, it was reading the coyote the riot act. I still hear a crow in the distance.

As always, here’s the “coexisting with coyotes” info; previous sighting reports are archived here.

Interesting, click on the map, click on “earth” view and zoom back to location. You’ll see a thin but long greenbelt for the coyote with 37th and Juneau at almost the middle.

I saw him/her too! I was parking my car, and by the time I got out he/she had completely disappeared and the crow had stopped the infernal racket it was making. I was amazed that it could disappear so quickly. Whenever I see a coyote, my internal dialogue is the same,”Oh no, someone’s dog got out…” and then my internal voice trails off as I realize that it’s not a dog.

I saw a coyote crossing 22nd Ave SW between Roxbury and Barton on Wed morning at about 9:30. It sat on the side of the road very near my car for a few seconds before skirting off in to the brush on the west side of the road. I had never seen one so close up!

Sorry, comment time is over.
