Update: More info on incident that led to helicopter search

Getting multiple reports – checking into it now. There are no serious-injury incidents on 911 anywhere in the area, and there’s nothing obvious on the scanner at the moment. 12:10 AM NOTE: Still haven’t had any luck nailing down an official account of this – afterhours contacts are inconsistent unless there is a MAJOR crime (and chopper/K-9 doesn’t necessarily portend “major,” no consolation if the search is in your neighborhood, of course) — comments and this WSB Forums thread have some pieces, though. SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE: Southwest Precinct Lt. Steve Paulsen says the incident involved an “ex-boyfriend assaulting ex-girlfriend.” The suspect is in custody.

A few minutes ago there were officers with spotlights and at least one police dog going through the yards of a couple houses on the north side of Alaska between 46th and 47th. Looks like they are gone now. The helicopter was circling for a few minutes as well and hasn’t returned.

Absolutely zero scanner traffic indicating WS issues on something right now so we’re heading up that way just to see if we spot any officers to ask. The helicopter has indeed headed somewhere else, according to several reports we’ve received – TR

Apparently…there was an assault on 48th Ave SW…cops all over in addition to the helicopter flying over head.

looking for a lone male cops told us. Not related to the post I just made about the 3 sketchy caucasian dudes prowling in our alley on 42nd near Charlestown cafe.

I just called the SW precinct, and they said that they had a chopper overhead and dogs on the ground looking for a “bad guy” and that we should stay inside (48th and Alaska)…

Teens up near Admiral/Belvidere found checking cars and putting glass bottles under tires. Go out and make sure your car is locked, and check underneath before driving.

We saw a police car across from wellsfargo at the junction as we drovr by. e also saw police with a dog search at the alley between 46 & 47th as the other poster stated. Helicopter was circiling all the way over to 51st.

About an hour ago, we drove by 3 police cars parked on 48th Ave SW, about two blocks south of Charleston. Heard the helicopter too and wondering what’s up?! We live close by. Hoping for an update soon.

We’ve just been up all through the areas mentioned here and not seeing any police, so I’m sorry to say we still have nothing definitive on this – TR

There are police outside my house on 48th between gene see and dakota and they have been out there since about 10.

You haven’t been thru all the areas…still 2 cop cars on 48th. K-9 unit just left.

I have seen three police cars drive by in the 31st/Graham area. I see them with their lights on, driving around, not sure what’s going on. One car is parked with lights on by the Elizabeth House.
