Thanks to David Hutchinson for sending photos of the classic car show on Alki today. More pix ahead plus details on a new annual car show coming to West Seattle in a few months:

That’s a ’57 BelAir, shown off on Alki today, as was a Chevy that’s a decade older:

Now, about that other car show: The first-ever West Seattle Junction Car Show is in the planning stages now – 8 am to 4 pm Sunday, September 21st, on California SW between Oregon and Edmunds. WSB has signed up to be a sponsor – along with many other West Seattle businesses you’ll see listed on the official flyer. And there’s still time to enter the show – as you’ll see on the flyer, which includes contact info, “only pre-1975 cars and trucks, please.”

I was partial to the 59′ Suburban today, truly a monster truck.
It was funny to see a 74′ Pinto there, quite the hot rod. I drove a 73′ in HS and at WSU in the 70’s – 80’s. I think the St. Helens dust finally did her in. That last time leaving Pullman and hitting a top speed of 45mph going up the hill on I-90 from Vantage (Columbia River)…priceless.

I agree, Erik, a 59-foot Suburban would be a monster! It sounds like the 74-foot Pinto had it beat, though ;-)

I didn’t make it to Alki today, but I sure do like a red ’57 Chevy BelAir. :)

Alki is always a great show. Haven’t been for several years due to working Saturdays. :(

Looking forward to the new September show in the Junction on a Sunday, my day off!

Back in the ’80’s, Chevy’s counterpart to the Pinto, the Vega, and almost equally disliked by many, was a popular little car to hot rod and drop a V-8 into.

My boss was at Alki Today, with his ’33 Dodge Brothers.
