3 days till it’s time for you and your pet(s) to get “snooty”

Those are a few of the photos that WSB contributing photojournalist Matt Durham took at last year’s “Snooty Walk” pet event put on by the West Seattle High School Class of ’09. This Saturday, the ’09ers are doing it again — and class co-president Sumeet Chadha wrote this to tell you a little more about the event:

This year the class of 2009 at WSHS is hard at work wrapping up the final preparations for the Snooty Walk on April 19th. It has been very hectic because our Advisor went on Admin. leave so the class has been working extra hard to bring everything together.

This year there are plenty of new events like, cutest couple, best dancer, and the obstacle course. Of course we are keeping some of the most fun events that we had last year such as, drooliest and best trick. Husky will be providing ice cream and volunteers will be cookin’ up hot dogs (pun) and hamburgers. We will also feature a bouncy toy.

We are going for more of a spring carnival feel with the bouncy toy. There will be a lot more to do while roaming around this year because we are setting up a “driveway fair” with a bunch of non-profits and sponsors coming to talk about their products.

It is $10.00 to enter a pet and all proceeds benefit WSHS class of 2009 in order to create a $5 prom. The money will also be used for graduation and other class needs.

We raised more than $1,400 last year and hope to beat that amount this year!

That’s this Saturday @ Hiawatha. Check out the Snooty Walk website for more, including event times. Organizers say it’s on, rain or shine!

Couple? Best couple? For the purposes of an event such as this, in a state such as this, I think ‘couple’ needs definition…

    West Seattle Ain’t EVERETT!

Irukandji, are you serious? And it’s *cutest* couple. As in the 2 pugs on the gallery page, I’m guessing. And thank god this isn’t Everett!

I think this is a great idea for a high school fundraiser. Good job to the kids who thought of it.

Also, is that the pony I always see being walked around Genessee Hill? I love it. It always makes my husband and I chuckle when we see it!

Matt would have to confirm that but I’m thinking it is indeed the famous mini-horse of north West Seattle, which also made an appearance in our photo with the mayor here:

We had fun at this event last year, even tho we didn’t win any prizes. Guess my Italian greyhound Sophia is just not snooty enough despite what everyone else thinks.

Please no matter what, PICK UP YOUR ANIMAL’S POOP! If I step in one more dog’s pile of crap here in WS that their owner doesn’t pick up, I might lose my mind.

The horse’s name is, indeed, Jeb. Jeb is a full-grown horse that was published in the 2007 Megawatt Calender photo featuring Jeb walking through Schmitz Park.
I, too, am a dog owner and strongly encourage dog owners to clean up after their dog(s). My native state of California bans dogs (leashed) from most parks as a result of a numerous of inconsiderate dog owners.
A few other considerations pet owners should adhere to:
Retractable leashes should be shortened anytime in the vicinity of traffic or people. I have seen runners tripped up by dogs running more than 15 feet from an owner. I nearly ran over a, leashed, golden retriever as it darted off a sidewalk into traffic.
Finally, leash or no leash, keep vicious animals at home, secured away from the public. Too often owners know their dog’s inclination to bite, but chose to risk the health of others.

Sorry, comment time is over.
