Desperately seeking “Singh”

This is one of the most unusual e-mails we’ve received lately. Someone who recently found WSB is wondering if anyone out there can help him figure out whatever happened to a waiter who worked at a now-closed Junction restaurant.

This is my first visit to your website. … I have enjoyed almost an hour of surfing a lot of these links and enjoyed them all. It also gives me a ray of hope in a better than yearlong quest of mine. Some time ago the restaurant “New Luck Toy” on California Avenue shut down with hardly any prior notice posted at all. I was a maybe twice a month regular there and I was sorely disappointed one night when I pulled up and parked and discovered that they had CLOSED with no information about whether they were going to be reopening.

To make a long story short: My quest is to find my favorite waiter ever who worked there. He was Asian and his name was “Singh” possibly misspelled but was pronounced like SING. If anybody has any information as to where this fellow wound up working next I’d sure like to hear. I canvassed the stores around the area but no one could help me with any information. Could you please post this and hopefully someone will contact me with where this fellow is working now as I’m sure he’s landed another job probably with another Chinese Restaurant. I have yet to find another acceptable place for my bimonthly Chinese food fix!

Many Thanks,
Bill Harris

You can e-mail Bill at that address if you have any idea about what happened to the person he’s talking about. (And if you’re new to the area and don’t know where New Luck Toy was — it’s the space now occupied by Talarico’s in The Junction.) Or, leave a comment on this post.

If this is the person at Ovio–he was the co-owner. Read recently that he is now with Waterfront Restaurant

Sorry, comment time is over.
