Parking space explained, and then some

Last weekend we drove past Me-Kwa-Mooks and saw a space roped off on the street in front, marked RESERVED FOR UDALL BUS TOUR. We were in something of a rush to start with; then we got sidetracked by something and completely forgot to look up what it was all about. Then this just appeared at the P-I site. How cool of them to side-trip to WS to help remove The Evil That Is Ivy.

Thanks for the shout-out guys! We had a great time in Me-Kwa-Mooks and EarthCorps ran a great event. Can’t say we got rid of all the ivy — but it was a pretty big mulch brigade that afternoon :)

Yeah! West Seattle turned out amazing volunteers for this awesome event at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park. If you are curious to learn more about this event- check out the spotlight on our website: http://www.earthcorps.org/spotlight.php?article_id=491
I am a Project Manager for EarthCorps (www.earthcorps.org) and a proud resident of West Seattle so I love running events in West Seattle parks- as they are close to my heart. We have many environmental restoration events scheduled in local West Seattle parks all year long. The events are generally 4 hours long on a saturday and are a really fun way to connect to your community. Check out our website for more event info! Our next West Seattle event is in collaboration with the Nature Consortium and is at West Duwamish Greenbelt on August 11th. On August 25th we have an event at Longfellow Creek at Thistle St. If you have not checked out the Longfellow Creek trail yet- it is really cool. So, who really needs I5 anyways? There is lots of fun stuff to do right in West Seattle this month! Stay in West Seattle and give to your community during the construction on I5!
