See what they stand for

donkey5.jpgWith our state’s earliest primary election ever (Aug. 21) just 10 weeks away, it’s not too soon to start figuring out who merits your vote. To that end, the 34th District Democrats welcome all to their candidate forum tonight, 7:15 pm at The Hall @ Fauntleroy (including nonpartisan offices such as school board). Here’s the list of who they’re expecting.

Got this quote right off their website…”Democrats work for waste-free, efficient, and responsive government with elections that are inclusive, accessible and open”.

That’s better than some standup acts I’ve seen recently. I don’t necessarily endorse the GOPs, but wouldn’t vote for a Demo unless they were running against Al-Qaeda.

Even Demos have to admit that the line above is a joke.

When you really boil it down, I think both Ds and Rs are pretty much the same. However, I don’t agree with wealth re-distribution, set asides, nannyism, and unions, so that puts me squarely in the R camp.

I’ll be the first to admit, that I am voting the lesser of two evils. Anyone who thinks their candidate/party is enlightened and above all the crap that goes on once elected is really fooling themselves. A radio talk show host I heard the other day commented how great it must be to be a congressman, as they all seem to do absolutely anything and everything to keep their jobs once they get them.

Of course, we are always quick to jump on the big issues instead of the local ones that impact our daily lives. I’d like to see our leaders (the Dems) come up with some kind of plan to do something about the transportation mess they have created here over the last couple decades. I think the issue will be first and foremost on many voters minds in 2008, and I don’t think billions and billions for light rail expansion is going to fix our problems. I’d also love to see our illustrious state legislature stop using the “emergency” clause for anything and everything they feel might be controversial.

What are the candidate’s position vis a vis the viaduct? Why is it so hard to find out what they think about real issues.

    the candidates’ positions, I mean.

Sorry, comment time is over.
