West Seattle’s Most Famous Politician is just wrapping up an hourlong q-and-a session on the Times website. Some WS-specific stuff, too.

I read the transcript… I also re-watched the Valentines Day interview with Hizzoner. I still think a GREAT idea that another West Seattle’ite had was to close the viaduct for 5 days. I know the argument is that there are several projects in the works to help deal with WS traffic so it would not be a fair “test”.

Well, I’m not sure we need a “test”, we need to deliver a wake-up call to everyone that the viaduct is an UBER-impactful piece of the Seattle area transit system. If it does nothing else I am sure it will motivate a huge portion of West Seattle to at least pay attention to what is going on AND VOTE!

Don’t even need the 5 day test – one day last year (around evening rush hour) there was a bad accident that basically closed 99S through downtown, forcing all southbound traffic to surface streets or I-5. It took me 2.5 hours and a quarter tank of gas to get from 4th & Broad to Gatewood Hill.

It sure would be great to have the water taxi running year round…

Sorry, comment time is over.
