West Seattle Crime Watch: Car stolen, clues found

Out of the WSB inbox, from Jon:

Our car stolen from our garage, 5400 block of 40th Ave. SW [map], sometime b/t ~5:00 pm 8/14/08 & 10:00 am 8/15/09. 1997 Honda Civic LX 4-door sedan, green, 624-XKD (WA). A guy near I-405 in Kirkland called me @ 10:15 this morning saying he found glovebox papers in the middle of his street, included owners’ manual, registration. I’ve filed report w/ SPD.

I live on 40th Ave SW and we’ve had a neighbor’s truck get broken into the past couple days. Yesterday this guy raced down our street out of control. Since the road paving on Fauntleroy our street has been like a highway. I’m getting concerned about the activity of people coming through. If you cut through 40th ave sw while the construction is going please be respectful of our street, kids and pets.

The car was actually stolen from the street (40th Ave SW) in front of our house – not the garage.

The note above is a direct cut-paste from the note I received, fwiw – but I will send a note to Jon asking if he needs to correct it – TR

It’s stuff like this that makes me think it’s a good thing my pickup has Sirius satellite radio. GPS tracking my pickup, everywhere it goes.

John, get used to 40th being a thoroughfare with the loss of two Fauntleroy lanes.
    .
Also, two burglars attempted a break-in at 2am last night at our house in 5400 block of 42nd SW. Scared them off with a loud call to 911, squad car didn’t show up for over 10 minutes. Officer said it was a busy night for intruders/vandals.
    .
Keep all those doors locked everyone!

WSHC- 40th Ave will be fine once the construction is done. Fauntleroy is 2 lanes past the Morgan Junction and moves fine. I’m just asking people not to drive like maniacs on a residential street while the construction is going on. Glad you scared off the burglars.

Mike — having satellite radio offers zero protection in the event your car is stolen. Don’t believe me? Call Sirius. Plus, Sirius regularly re-activates stolen satellite radios :(

Sorry, comment time is over.
