From West Seattleite Donn Bennett:

Northwest drummers attempt to bring home world record to help local charities.

The Woodstick Big Beat 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of a world record drumming event that has become a tradition for northwest drummers and drummers around the world. The event first happened in a Gig Harbor airplane hangar in 2003. Since then the event has been held in 17 cities throughout the US, Canada and England. In 2005, 533 Woodstick drummers set a new world record for drummers playing drumsets simultaneously at Qwest Field in Seattle. In 2011 800 drummers in Birmingham, England assembled to smash our record. On Sunday, November 18th, Northwest drummers will assemble at the Juanita field House in Kirkland WA to attempt to bring the record back to where it all began.

Drummers will be attracted to the event by over $10,000.00 in drum prizes and live performances by 7 of the biggest names in the drumming world. All proceeds from the event will go to Camp Korey, a camp in Carnation WA for kids battling serious illness and to Crime Stoppers Groove Music for Youth, a local organization that supplies music programs for at risk kids.
