Good morning – no incidents reported so far. During am/pm commute or the rest of the day, if you see/hear about something that others should know, this is as usual the place to comment (when you can do so safely, of course – no texting and driving).
ADDED TUESDAY PM: Just to make sure you don’t miss it – Metro has announced it’s adding buses to the 120 and 55 as of next Monday.
Slow going on the 56x 7:30 due to traffic getting on 99 bottle necked around a broken down Rapid Ride.
Is that a RR broken down on 99 toward downtown? I hope not. Am on the 55 and we just passed it going only 2 miles an hour…
Also, lots of trucks lined up under the bridge, headed to port. Don’t know if it’s normal or a problem, but looked very slow going down there.
Collision I-5 NB CD @ James St
Cleared 7:14 AM : On the I-5 northbound collector-distributor just south of James St (MP 165) there is a collision blocking the right center lane. The Incident Response Team has arrived on the scene.
7ish Rt C packed at the Alaska Junction to DT. I miss sitting…oh and missed a stop due to crowding.
Just watched several of my neighbors running after the passing #22, apparently they were waiting at the bus stop and it kept going. It will be another hour before another #22 passes.
Usual 120 was on time, but might have been the previous bus running late? My stop took the last seats, standing room from Roxbury on. We fit everyone I think, but it was another tight squeeze. Then the bridge and 99 were slow going.
I miss having a commute where I might have some breathing room and could read on my phone. This is miserable.
7:27am 120 was standing room only by the time I got on at Brandon. Almost never get a seat now and even with the rechannelization there is still a lot of waiting on the bus. For not much more money I can drive to work in a shorter amount of time without being hot, miserable and stuffed in like a sardine.
Fastest commute since all the changes. I drove. Left Alki area at 8:30. Parked in Pioneer Square, got a coffee and in office a few minutes after 9:00.
The 8:36am #50 leaves early about 50% of the time. I missed it this time. :(
715 C SRO at junction. Passed up 20+ passengers at the last two stops before the bridge. I was out of town last week and hoped it would be smooth sailing given we are now weeks into the new routes. So much for hope.
West Seattle Lower Bridge west-bound completely backed up. Cannot see what is blocking. Traffic east-bound seems to be moving across the bridge OK. Most drivers turning around.
I thought I would try the 50 from SODO to Junction. Got off the light rail and had to go by intuition to guess where the 50 stop might be, since no signage at light rail station. When I found the stop, there was no timetable on the bus-stop poll (just the display case where a schedule should be). Rather than stand on Lander in the rain for an undetermined period of time, I took the light rail back to University and the usual bus (packed C RR) back to West Seattle. One more thing to write to Metro about. SIGH. Need to have a clearly posted 50 schedule at SODO.
This morning heading into town east bound I noticed a huge line up of trucks going west bound over the lower bridge. Also, heading down first ave, the truck traffic looked heavier then it’s been the last few days.

Excellent point! Maybe a “50” directional sign in the light rail station would help.
I ran into the same problem a couple weeks ago. Turns out there’s a 50 stop right in the Sodo Busway. Not knowing this, I walked all the way to Starbucks Center before the next 50 stop appeared, losing about 20 minutes.
Around 11:30a I saw two C-line training buses in a row west-bound on Alaska St. A sign of more bus availability to come?
I guess Metro finally decided to call out the (C)alvary:).
I waited at 25th & Roxbury at 1:18 for a #22 that never came. Waited 25 minutes. While waiting for the #22 I missed two #21 that would have at least taken me a little closer to home. Totally frigging ridiculous considering that this bus only runs once per hour and Metro can’t even get that right. Arbor Heights residents have not only been screwed, they’ve been sodomized.
Metro’s Fare Enforcement police are out today, just a heads up. Never seen them before, but they’re hanging out at bus stops today.

to Mike Lindblom: Where is the 50 stop in the SODO busway? I looked “all over” the busway and only saw buses going into downtown, not outbound. The 50 stop (without the schedule posted) I found was across the busway and a bit around the corner on Lander. So going toward Starbuck Center, the stop I found was on the right on Lander, just off the busway (but not on the busway). YES, it would be great if Metro had Bay Numbers there with a map showing what buses are at what bay and where the bays are.
At helper monkey, there were two enforcementguys at junction bay 2 Saturday morning about ten am.
Went to catch my bus between 3rd Pike & Pine and notice that metro had removed the rain shelter! What’s up with that?
MSW; I caught the C @3rd/Pike tonight, close to 9pm; yeh, all torn up; tons of workers, trucks, construction equipment lined up all down 3rd between Pike and Pine; couldn’t find anyone from metro to ask, what the heck is going on; only left 1 smallish area for buses to pull in, so C got caught behind waiting for 2 other buses at stop

It looks as if numerous routes through West Seattle are getting all beefed up with additional buses, yet the paltry hourly run to Arbor Heights can’t even be relied upon to show up. I thought it was clear after last week’s meeting that there are LOTS of AH residents upset about this – yet no action is being taken. Why the discriminatory treatment????????? Even ONE additional #22 to provide service every 30 minutes would help, especially as it doesn’t even do the loop. Instead, more #120’s are being added. I saw 3 #120 yesterday while I waited for the #22 that never came. Time to start driving.
Anonyme, FWIW, after the news release about 120 and 55 came in, I asked about the AH timetable. No reply yet, but that was end-of-the-business-day yesterday…
iggy, unfortunately, it’s not an ideal transfer from the busway to 50 if you’re going toward West Seattle but transferring from Link. The last Link stop is at Busway & Lander, so you have to walk to that shady bus stop on Lander. If you take one of the buses that go south along the busway, like the 150 or 160 (I think), you can wait one more stop and get off at Spokane St. Then the 50 stop is across the busway and has a schedule. It’s a pretty crappy bus stop, though, and I hope Metro can clean it up a little.

I do a commute from Georgetown where I take a bus up 4th and get off at Spokane, walk to the busway, and catch the 50. If you can get it, and especially if you live north of the Junction, it’s a nice bus. 20 minutes from SoDo to my house.
