Video: Caspar Babypants rocks City Mouse Studio & Store crowd

With the line outside City Mouse Studio and Store (WSB sponsor) in The Junction this morning, you’d have thought a rock star was visiting. Oh wait – one was:

The strollers might have been a giveaway – the rock star on hand was Chris Ballew, aka Caspar Babypants, posing above with City Mouse proprietor Donna Ryan. Her photography studio/children’s-merchandise store is celebrating its first anniversary at 4218 SW Alaska, and CB performed two wall-to-wall-crowded mini-concerts to help celebrate:

City Mouse also just launched an online store – check out the site for a discount code to get you 20 percent off a first-time purchase. (And Donna says locals can pick up online-bought merchandise at the Junction store to save shipping fees.)

WSB — as a big fan and supporter, I gotta respectfully ask, can we cover more West Seattle music and musicians than Casper Babypants? Please? If a correspondent is needed, I hereby offer my services.

We do our best. I know our best isn’t good enough, but we keep trying to get better. – TR

WSB – It isn’t you . . . Casper Babypants is so ubiquitous at this point that I’m getting to the point that I’m groaning evertime I see a sign, poster, bumper sticker, ad . . . urgh.

SORRY I am everywhere! I guess there are a lots of tots that wanna rock!!

Glenda, you may be tired hearing about him, but the kids who are his audience LOVE him. As the parent of one of those kids, I like to know of these events. He’s a working musician – he and the venues he plays have to advertise. I’d rather see more promotional material than have more musicians who need day jobs. CB is ubiquitous because he is working hard and the demand for him is tremendous, as evidenced by the two packed shows today.

And just one more note from me. While it’s true that we don’t often get out to bars to shoot video of the folks playing at night – most nights we have public meetings to cover, or tons of other stuff to catch up on – we have listings in our events calendar for the venues that have music calendars, and whenever we get specific notes from specific acts that are coming to specific local venues, we do our best to spotlight them. And when music is played in other venues, such as park concerts, during the summer, we’re all over it … meantime, please encourage anyone whose performances are NOT on the major local calendars (Skylark, C&P come to mind for consistency), feel free to e-mail us announcements. editor@westseattleblog.com – For example, every time I walk past the Poggie, I notice a photocopied list of the week’s bands … if whomever made that list would just e-mail it to us, we’d be happy to get it in the calendar, as we now have paid editorial help getting more material in the calendar than ever before – TR

    Right on MsG!

Really Glenda? This is what you chose to “groan” over? Surely if you had a 3 year old (or a preschool full of them) who delighted in nothing as much as Caspar Babypants you would feel differently.
Thank you City Mouse for a great community event. Rock on Caspar!

wsb, walk inside and ask for a list.
it covers over one months’ listing.

My two and a half year old talked about going to Caspar Babypants all week. It made his day today to see him yet again. I say way to go and thank you for sharing your talent with this young audience.
