Presidential postscript: West Seattleite met with President Obama
August 18, 2010 at 9:19 pm | In West Seattle news, West Seattle people | 7 CommentsSo it turns out there was a major West Seattle connection to yesterday’s presidential visit beyond The Big Booms. From the “we’re embarrassed we didn’t know this earlier” department, a longtime WSB’er e-mailed tonight to point out that Gillian Allen-White, the Grand Central Bakery co-owner who hosted President Obama’s mini-business roundtable in Pioneer Square yesterday, is a West Seattleite – co-president of the Sanislo Elementary School PTA, in fact. She is at the president’s left in the WhiteHouse.gov video above, and there’s a photo on SeattleTimes.com (WSB partner) tonight, with a story by food writer Nancy Leson, who followed up with Allen-White to get the lowdown on what the president ordered for lunch while there.

Gillian Allen-White, if you read this, two things.
#1 I noticed you just opened a branch in Burien. That’s cool but how about some West Seattle love?
#2 I’m a longtime fan of the Pioneer Square branch for lunch. But invariably I’ll get my food WAY before my friend or vice versa even when we order together. Sometimes almost a meal worth of time elapses. Can you fix that?
Otherwise, love your restaurant and baked goods (especially the Irish Soda Bread) Congrats!

Did he say G – Gillian? I thought it was Gillian as in J – Jill – Gillian. Regardless, Gillian’s support for dear one is just one more reason *not* to support Grand Central.

WSC, you must not know her then. Don’t make up things to criticize Obama about. Her name is pronounced with a hard G. He said it correctly.

Gillian is also the mother of one of the boys featured in this post from January:
