From Maki: “I just wanted to inform that a deceased, gray stripe/white adult cat is lying on the side of the road at 6:30 pm today. He/she is fully grown adult, white paws and gray stripe back, and sadly, passed away. He/she was on the southbound lane of the 26th Ave SW, just north of SW 100th St, right in between sidewalk construction barriers and lights. I am so sorry for the precious kitty and his/her family.”
Thanks to Maki for stopping. I also stopped today. The cat is a large, tabby with white bib and paws. I am guessing that he is a neutered male. He is a beautiful cat, no doubt someone’s pet. I believe this is in the jurisdiction of Regional Animal Services of King County. I will contact them tomorrow for a pick up. The cat is across the street from 9844 and 9848 26th Ave SW.
@Marianne — did you see the lost cat posting from 12/24 with a very similar description?
I hope someone might follow-up with them, just in case it is theirs. :-(
Maki e-mailed us to say that by mid-afternoon, the cat was gone. No way to know whether that meant the owner found it or someone else, so we can’t close this post out unless we get that kind of update. (If the owner reads this but doesn’t want to comment, you can e-mail us directly at editor@westseattleblog.com) – TR
Linnea, The cat was not Oli Babba, missing since the 24th. The cat was a classic brown tabby with white. Thank you for double checking though.
Looks like someone called Regional Animal Services of King County to pick the cat up. Listing says unaltered, but he appeared altered to me.
So sorry for your loss

Unfortunately, it sounds a lot like our Barney – he’s been missing since late December and we live right in that area. I got a call from Maki today, after we posted pictures of Barney missing. He was the friendliest kitty and loved everyone. We miss him greatly :(
