Eugenia lives in a small house
on a quiet street
with a cat that could talk
if it wanted to.
But she comes from a place
where mountains can’t sit still
and even the water doesn’t know
which way to run.
There, men are born whole
from the Mother
nursed on ashes and poetry
and rocked
back and forth
back and forth
back and forth
by History.
