yikesMemberI’ve opened the many adverts this week for various restaurants and found the usual 2 for 1 type offers. I’m a single mom and when I do get time to myself, I frequently like to dine alone with a good book. Except for Pegasus (and what single diner want to buy a whole pizza for $2 off) they mostly require that to get a discount, you have to have two people. I know I could take the other portion home and all the yada about about how they need to make the money. But I put up with not ideal seating, lackluster attention, and funny looks to get my peace… and I tip probably better than a couple does! Why can’t the restaurants welcome us with a discount, too?

yikesMemberI just noticed that the urban eats doesn’t require two… a little pricey, but one down!

changingtimesMemberumm from a businness point of view ive never heard of dine alone specials…isnt the point of marketing with coupons to get as much business as possible..just as in when staying in hotel rooms its less expensive per person to book double occupancy then single..

yikesMemberDear Changing: I think you are right… altho bringing two in may not gain loyal attention whereas you get multiple visits from a loyal onesie… and I would think if you have empty tables, a onesie is better than nonesie!

celeste17ParticipantYikes, I agree. Often I go out alone for a meal. I would love coupons or even other specials that are aimed at one person. A lot of times if you are waiting for the water taxi you will hear Argosy talking about a 2 for 1 special. And I think what if I want to go on a tour but I am by myself do I get 50% off my ticket? I hope we will see coupons for one person soon.

SueParticipantI have seen coupons for single diners, but very VERY rarely – I forget what restaurant it was for, but I recently saw one that was a buy one/get one meal for 2 people, but gave the option of 50% off for 1 person. I’d love to see more of that. Although I have a partner, I very often eat out alone and would love that option as well.
