flowerpetalMemberDo the Wilson Sisters of “Heart” fame still live in West Seattle? If I am remembering correctly, they did at one time.
April 16, 2008 at 5:44 am #622183
WSBKeymasterI believe Ann Rule lives more toward Burien, somewhere overlooking the water, unless she has very recently moved. We used to call her for interviews from my ex-tv station every time some notorious murder case came up for discussion, and that’s where we were always sending our crews.

WSBKeymasterP.S. this is not disclosing anyone’s personal address so far as I am concerned but a semi-amusing side note, speaking of mailing addresses … when we got our official WSB mailing address at Stor-Mor late last year, it was partly because it seemed to be Mailboxes of the Stars … while researching WSB celebrity blurbs in the past, I had noticed that same mailing address for at least two of the people mentioned in this thread. Not that I’ve ever seen ANYONE else when we go by to pick up our mail, though, famous or otherwise!

JoBParticipantI suspect some famous people choose to live in West Seattle because they can drive to the local grocery or bookstore and shop without fear of being accosted…
or maybe even drop in to hear a fellow musician play without stealing their show…
This is a good place to be just a little bit different… and still not stand out in a crowd.

JeraldParticipantKMPS DJ Ichabod Caine lives in the Fauntleroy area.

ShibaguyzMemberGypsy Rose Lee??? How cool is THAT?!?!?!

spookbrianMemberI know about a couple more obscure locals Matt Bayles who is a producer and engineer who played in and recorded Minus the Bear, and has also worked with soundgarden, pearl jam, fall of troy and the blood brothers. I also know about rocky votolato local singer songwriter. I heard EdVed sold his house and lives in a condo now with his wife who is pregers and their daughter. gossip gossip gossip…
April 17, 2008 at 8:16 pm #622190
JoBParticipantout of the news folks who turned up today for the story on the locksmith… about half live in West seattle.. and they all read this blog:)
April 17, 2008 at 9:06 pm #622191
hopeyParticipantIf “EdVed” sold his house it must be pretty recent, because no sale has been filed with King County records. It would not surprise me if he *also* has a condo somewhere, and uses that as his main residence instead.

cjboffoliParticipantCassandra Watson, a contestant on Season 8 of the Tyra Banks produced America’s Next Top Model (UPN Network), is a West Seattle resident.
April 17, 2008 at 9:48 pm #622193
swimcatMemberThat would be ‘Cycle 8’ of America’s Next Top Model. :) I think Tyra is trying to make the show seem classier than it really is by referring to the seasons as cycles. Embarrassingly enough, I still watch that crap, ‘cycle’ after dramatic ‘cycle’.
April 18, 2008 at 5:48 am #622194
cjboffoliParticipantm: I stand corrected. I’ve never actually seen the show. But Ms. Watson is my next-door neighbor.
April 18, 2008 at 2:40 pm #622195
JoBParticipantthere was a one day open house for one of the houses on eddies street… or the one below… a couple of months ago… i didn’t go so i don’t know if it was his or not…
if the house has changed hands… there sure hasn’t been much fuss…
and we haven’t heard of any development plans for what is a fairly large chunk of view hillside…
or seen surveyors.. or…
trust me.. my little outdoor alarms would let me know if anything other than coyotes was out there…
i think they are denned just below our backyard…
April 18, 2008 at 4:46 pm #622196
amrakxParticipantI don’t know it this is really true or not but a while ago someone mentioned Sunny Kobe Cook, founder of Sleep Country USA, author, speaker and entrepeneur, lived in the Admiral district of West Seattle.
Also, doesn’t the esteemed Mayor of Seattle, Mayor Greg Nickels live in the Admiral area?
April 18, 2008 at 5:31 pm #622197
JoBParticipantcjboffoli…
so fans of America’s Next Top Model… ok.. i admit.. i am a fan… want to know ;-)
did the show launch Cassandra Watson’s career or was it just her 15 minutes of fame?
April 18, 2008 at 6:10 pm #622198
AnonymousInactiveYeah, the Mayor does live in the Admiral area. He made mention of it when he was at Metropolitan Market for the new reusable bags a few months ago. One “kind of” celeb I forgot earlier is Michael Kinsley. I saw him in the Junction a few months ago near Capers just walking solo, north. WSB made mention about a year ago that he and Patty were moving to WS.
April 18, 2008 at 6:25 pm #622199
charlabobParticipantwsblover, I’m impressed. I wouldn’t recognize Michael Kinsley or most people on this thread if I fell over them. And I do know who they are :-)
Boston was crawling with celebrities and the only one I recognized at first sight was John Kenneth Galbraith (who was 6’6 and looked like Abe Lincoln — I knew Lincoln was dead, so …)
Turns out there’s an actual syndrome, Prosopagnosia, that doesn’t allow one to recognize faces and it has nothing to do with eyesight. I never forget a voice, but faces are all a blur.
So celebrities are safe from my adulation. And if I see you tonight and tomorrow night and seem to ignore you, it’s probably because I don’t remember your face. Speak and we may become fast friends.
April 18, 2008 at 7:38 pm #622200
AnonymousInactiveHi Charlabob – I lived in Boston too for a few years in the 90’s. I worked in the theater district so I saw all the stars when they were doing plays. I was surprised I recognized Michael. His hair was grey and he didn’t have on his suit and tie like back in the crossfire days. LOL. My thing with celebs is they look familiar but I can’t seem to place why I know them :) Like when I waved to Gary Locke at work like he was a co worker or when I saw Allison Grande at the Admiral Starbucks but couldn’t recall her name. Cheers.

cjboffoliParticipantJoB: I was a NYC-based photographer before I moved to Seattle and know more than a few working models there. It can be a lucrative field but tough, not to mention tedious as you go to endless castings. Not entirely the glamour a show like that probably suggests.
I’m not aware of Ms. Watson working in Seattle post-fame but I hope she was able to parlay some of the exposure into something. Last I heard she was continuing her college studies locally.
April 18, 2008 at 9:22 pm #622203
amrakxParticipantOh not to forget the ghost of former City Council Member and almost Mayor (wish he had won), Charlie Chong!
April 19, 2008 at 6:18 am #622204
JanSParticipantthanks, amrakx…Charlie was the best…what a terrific guy…
April 19, 2008 at 5:46 pm #622205
BonnieParticipantOh, West Seattle has Amanda Knox.
April 19, 2008 at 10:44 pm #622206
cjboffoliParticipantbonnie: Methinks the topic is the famous, not the infamous.
