Hello everyone, I was thinking about doing the 5k at the end of the month but it will be my first time and was wondering if anyone knows if there are alot of beginners and family that attend and participate?

This is the first time they’ve ever had this walk-run so there’s no track record, so to speak. Alki’s a great place for a 5K and I’m sure that you’ll fit in no matter what your pace!

How far is 5k? Can we walk this instead of run? I can’t run to save my life but I can walk.

jrwhite760 – I think you’ll find most area 5Ks (even 10Ks) welcome a variety of “skill levels” by using a mile-timed starting wave, maybe even going all the way to walkers. Some even, while having rules against other types of wheels, will allow strollers – usually in registration materials if they’re allowed (looks like a yes for WS 5K). Generally, I think any race raising money for a children’s cause is going to expect families – but always appropriate to pay the entry fee for anyone actually participating :)

celeste17 – 3.1 miles, and yes, there is a walk!

5K strikes me as just too far ~I get out of breath quickly! Howzabout a 1K? Let’s have a West Seattle/White Center 1K which ends, say, at Full Tilt, or some other local establishment? Tee-shirts, sponsors, etc. Who’s on board?

I would like to do this but they don’t allow dogs. I will be doing the Furry 5k instead.

My daughter(2-1/2) and I will be there with our jogging stroller! It’ll be our 1st organized Run. I read that the “proper” thing to do if you have a jogging stroller is to stay out of the other runners way (it was worded much nicer). I registered both of us so we’ll get T-shirts and the cool pocket deal that records your time once you cross the finish line!
