MargLMemberWest Seattle biz: Heavenly Wholesale opens, All the Best closing
I noticed yesterday the storefront is empty and for lease again so I wondered if it was only open for the Christmas holidays…

miwsParticipantHi MargL
I didn’t give it much thought when the article you linked came up in November, but I thought Heavenly Wholesale had a permanent, year-round spot on Alaska, in the same block as the Legion Hall.
It seemed like they’d moved into that spot around 5 or more years ago, and before that, being seasonal.

JustSarahParticipantHmm, I just assumed the Junction couldn’t support yet another store specializing in crazy country cat lady gear. Isn’t that Zamboanga’s territory?
Seriously, though, it didn’t appear to be a well-planned or executed business. Scary stuff in the window aside, the signage was strange, with a whole lot of “unnecessary” quotation “marks.” ;-)

dawsonctParticipantYeah, it reminded me of the country kitschy decor that all of my (female, closeted gay) Hoosier relatives seem to love. Always thought her store was not just in the wrong neighborhood, but the wrong region.
Hope she didn’t lose much on her venture.

GenHillOneParticipantouch, People.

DianeParticipantif you read the original story, it answers most of these questions

I went into the store when their sign went up, took pics, got the scoop, which Tracy put in story linked above; very nice ladies

they opened this store short-term, just for the holidays

dawsonctParticipantI was polite and didn’t say anything while it was open, but seriously, I don’t see that stuff being a big seller in our neck of the woods.
I DO think if she packed it into a trailer and headed East this Summer, she could liquidate any remaining inventory in just a couple of “three-i-league country” weekend swap-meets.
Now if she were selling art by Len Tukwila, driftwood sculptor, things might still be going along rather smoothly.

JustSarahParticipantActually, Diane, I don’t see anything in the original story indicating that the store would only be seasonal, so I think it’s fair for people to wonder what happened.
I simply assumed that, as dawsonct also said, there simply isn’t a market for such goods around here.

DianeParticipantthat’s why I said it answers most of these questions

and added the bit “they opened this store short-term, just for the holidays”, which was not in the story

MargLMemberWell – the article answered none of my question, but apparently Diane is ‘in the know’ having done the original interview. :-) Got it!

DianeParticipantyou asked if it was only open for the Christmas holidays; the answer is yes, which I stated twice above
