kikipennyParticipantMy PCP has recommended I try visiting a therapist to help treat depression/anxiety, but I’m at a loss as to where to start (he gave me several names, but unfortunately, none of them were accessible to me by bus.)
Does anyone have a rec for a therapist/mental health professional, preferably in West Seattle or even in the downtown/QA area (where I work), preferably someone who has evening or weekend appointments available so I don’t have to worry about taking time off work?
Thanks!

lindaParticipantI highly recommend Laurie McKechnie, she was wonderful and helped me work through several issues. She also helped me build skills which I use to this day to help me deal with some of the things I originally worked through with her. She is in West Seattle on California on the C line. When I was working with her she had afternoon and evening hours. Here’s her website:

JeannieParticipantOut of curiosity, I went to Laurie McKechnie’s website. I am sincerely glad she was able to help you, Linda, but the “Enneagram” aspect seems a bit New Agey.

dapuffinParticipantIf you’re willing to travel to Pioneer Square, I have had excellent experience with Atta Dawahare of Union Therapy.

squareeyesParticipantA couple of my friends utilize Linda Rohan http://www.lindarohan.com/. She’s on California between Andover and Charlestown.

HigginshereParticipantAlso located in Pioneer Square is psychoanalytic therapist Donovan Bigelow. His Web site provides free educational materials that can serve as foundation for treatment and also gives a sense of his style of treatment.
I think this is an excellent resource for anyone interested in the fundamentals of human relationships and exploring the mind. I’ve listened to all of his lectures; it’s like a college course without the tuition. -
