IrukandjiParticipantFYI:
Credit card theft this morning at Starbucks at Admiral & 41st between 9:40-9:50 a.m. I foolishly set my card on the counter with the cashier as another employee ran to the back to grab two bags of beans. Other customers were checked through as I waited to the side with a kid in stroller.
When the beans arrived, the card was gone and could not be found. It seems someone picked it up and used it as three different south Seattle locations before I got home to report the theft.
Dumb of me. Yes. Police notified.

CaduceusMemberThat’s unfortunate, I hope they catch them and you aren’t charged for whatever they purchased.
Good luck!

IrukandjiParticipantWe were on it pretty quickly. Sadly, this are non-urgent matters for SPD. Even though we could watch as transactions happened with our card, we had to wait HOURS for police to respond by phone. Wish there were more resources. They could have caught the guy/gal filling up on gas!

acemotelParticipantA few years ago we had about $3,000 taken from our acct when my husband lost his debit card. The charges were all refunded by our bank (a credit union) immediately. But the police did not investigate, even though it would have been very easy to follow the trail. Many of the stores had in-store cameras. I gather it’s not a priority. Very frustrating!

jMemberYes, this sucks. One of my friends had her card stolen. The best part was the idiot who stole it made purchases online and had the things shipped to their own address. The police had all the information, but still did not do anything. This was in Puyallup. I guess there are bigger fish to fry.

ellenaterMembermy mom also had this happen in Oregon but the police did follow up and arrested the guy. They even let his address slip out so she could follow up herself if she wanted. I can’t believe the police are doing nothing!

ZenguyParticipantContact your card issuer (the bank) and let them know the situation if you have not already. If it is a check card they should refund the money immediately, if it is a credit card they have several days to credit the account. Either way Visa and MasterCard have a ZERO liability limit and you will get all your money back. I used to work for a credit card processor and know the rules very well.
