BonnieParticipantNot sure what you like. I read The Goldfinch, which was good. My book club is reading The Husband’s Secret right now. (look on amazon for authors) I read this a few years ago but Where’d you go Bernadette is a good read. Set in Seattle. Another good read set in Seattle is The Art of Racing in the Rain.

sam-cParticipantyes to the Goldfinch. My husband and I have fought over our copy. (who gets to read it tonight?). But now, he’s finished though and I still get read more…. :)
(even though I like to read.. I’m always sad when I finish a good book and don’t know what to do after that….)
I thought Where’d you go Bernadette was good too.
I also enjoyed ‘Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name’
Before any of the those: The Art of Fielding was really good too.
(which shows the 2 year gap I had in reading….)

pattileaParticipantWell then I ordered Golfinch! Thank you. I am also sad when I finish a good book. I read three on vacation, then what? I did a jigsaw puzzle.

acemotelParticipantI’ve read a lot of books this summer, but two really stand out: One set mostly in Seattle, The Boys in the Boat (Brown) and All the Light We Cannot See (Doerr). They are thick books, good company for a long time, and I hated to see them end.

-I am a big fan of Haruki Murakami..just started this book, and can’t put it down.
-Our book club just finished The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving by Jonathan Evison, a local Seattle-area author.

savoirfaireParticipantI just finished All the Light We Cannot See last night, and was very sad to see it go. I read The Great Glass Sea, by Josh Weil a little earlier in the summer and that was really interesting; for nonfiction, I enjoyed The Next Tsunami, by Bonnie Henderson.

seaopgalParticipantI’ve been all over the map, but really liked The Secret Life of Shakespeare. Jude Morgan paints a totally real person who absolutely could have written all the plays (unless maybe he didn’t) and illuminates why we don’t know anything at all about him. I cried at the end, not because it was sad (even though it was), but because it wasn’t the end.

MerrilieParticipantI just downloaded “Where’d you go Bernadette” from the Seattle library and I’m enjoying it so far. Thanks for the suggestion Bonnie and Sam-c! I also added most if the books suggested to my library requests.

LindseyParticipantOur summer book club read at work was “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by local author Garth Stein. I really enjoyed it! It was a very quick, easy read so I’m looking forward to digging into some of your suggestions now.
