Anyone have great summer camp experiences to suggest for a 6 year old? Camps involving really anything but especially: Theater /acting , sports, nature — I’d love to hear from people who have actually sent their kids before and what they liked about the camps. I’m more interested in camps that are in the general Seattle area, preferably West Seattle offerings, and I’m NOT interested in over night camps at this point.

Your child is still too young, but for the future keep in mind ArtsWest’s summer theater camp. My stepson had an amazingly good time in last summer’s camp. He made new friends, learned about singing, acting, and dancing, and got his first REAL performance experience. They put on a real show, for a real ticket-buying audience — not just parents & friends, though certainly most of the tickets are purchased by them! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

My daughter (now 23 yo) went to summer day camp at SW community Center thoughout elementary school. They used to do day camps for all school vacations as well. Lots of fun activities from art, sports, field trips, even a talent show. The counselors used to be students in college, usually to become teachers. Was also very affordable. She loved it, and when she felt she was to old to attend, she even volunteered as a helper during her middle school years.

Check out the YMCA. They have good camps. I don’t think their schedule is out yet. Also, I think Stage Struck is pretty good.

Definitely check out West Seattle YMCA. The staff is well-trained and organized. Most of the activities are outdoors in Lincoln Park. I’ve been sending both of my kids there for several years, and they’ve loved it.

Westside School offers summers camps for children of Kindergarten age and above. The child does NOT need to attend Westside School to sign up for the camps. My son went last summer and just loved it. This year the theme is “science as art”. There are half- and full-day options. The camps are offered July 13-17, July 20-24, and July 27-30. The contact person at Westside School is David Bergler. Westside is located at 10015 28th Avenue SW Seattle, WA 98146

Phone:(206) 932-2511 or you can e-mail David Bergler at davidb@westsideschool.org. Hope this helps!
