ARCjobsParticipantAssociated Recreation Council is now interviewing for Substitute Child Care Counselors for over 25 community center locations around Seattle.
Our school-age care programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play and grow. Our substitute pool helps employees gain experience working in our programs and provide the foundation for becoming regular, part-time or full-time employees.
Substitute Child Care positions are great for those going to school, work other part-time jobs, or have other obligations.
Available locations for school year programs include (additions/availability subject to change):
Northwest Seattle: Ballard, Bitter Lake, and Magnolia Community Centers
Northeast Seattle: Northgate Community Center, John Rogers Elementary School, Thornton Creek Elementary School, and Wedgwood Elementary School
Central Seattle: McGilvra Elementary School, Miller (Lowell and/or Stevens Elementary Schools), Queen Anne Community Center, Garfield Community Center (Summer Only), and Yesler Community Center (Summer Only)
Southwest Seattle: Alki, Delridge, Hiawatha, High Point, and South Park Community Centers, and Schmitz Park Elementary School
Southeast Seattle: Jefferson, Rainier, Rainier Beach, and Van Asselt Community Centers

Organize and lead programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, field trips and other special projects and events
Work with School-Age Care staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times
Must be willing to complete training for certification in First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers Permit, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens educationRequirements:
Eighteen years of age or older
High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education
At least one year experience working with 5-12 year olds
Clear Tuberculosis results within the past 12 months
Must pass criminal background check
Must provide required documentation for proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Must sign up for direct deposit with either a checking or savings account or Payroll PaycardShifts:
All positions are considered on-call; with the opportunity to gain extra hours on school breaks, summer camps, and professional development days.
September through June: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and/or 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
June through August: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.ARC is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer committed to workforce diversity.
