Actually, this isn’t a sign of these times but rather of the times a few years back.

If it was a sign of these times there would be a pygmy goat where the pig is. Or maybe a chicken.

I know! How about a pot-bellied pygmy chicken!

    (Anyone? Anyone?)

I think these signs are on any school grounds in the City.

You could be right, maude, although I’ve never seen these signs at any other school. If no one specifies which particular school this came from, I’ll give you the point.

According to the code cited above:

It is unlawful for the owner to:

    B. Permit any cat, dog, potbelly pig or other animal to enter any public fountain or any school ground while school is in session or during after-school activities. It is not a violation of this subsection for an owner to permit an animal to enter on to any school ground when school is not in session and no after-school activities are taking place if the animal is on leash and the owner has in his or her immediate possession a device to remove properly any feces the animal may deposit on school grounds;

So if you want to walk your pig on school grounds, you’d better do it now, before summer vacation ends and all the mudholes dry out.

Be sure to keep your pig on a leash at all times, and pick up any feces or other material the animal may have dropped, including, but not limited to:

    —Spare ribs

    —Pickled feet

    —Bacon bits

    —Lipstick

    —Piglets

If you have an indoor pig, make sure to wash its hands thoroughly before letting it handle any food. As we know, pigs are a prime carrier of sow-monella.

    DP,

I think maude got it but a sign like this used to be outside of Pathfinder at Genesee Hill Elementary, so if it’s not the one you are thinking of SWiWS goes to maude. Happy 4th all – time to pull weeds….

I think I’ve seen one of those signs on the fence around Gatewood. I do remember wondering why the pig was also included.

From the Seattle Animal Shelter website:

Seattle Municipal Code Section 9.25.050 requires that all cats, dogs, miniature goats, and potbellied pigs be licensed.

Not sure why miniature goats get to wander onto school property.

    Please, maude!

A pygmy goat is not just a “miniature” goat!!!

    [offended face]

You should know that where pygymy goats come from, they are considered normal-sized animals, and they very much resent the implication that they are somehow smaller or less worthy in any way than a so-called normal-sized goat.

Perhaps you were thinking of the micro-goat . . .

Fun Fact: Did you know that there are approximately 547,960 micro-goats in a single drop of water?

I meant no offense to goats of any size. I love goats. Would love to have one. http://cuteoverload.com/2011/04/17/goat-stampede/

It’s okay for potbellied pigs to enter public fountains now, because school is not in session. But come September, all pigs out of the water!

Why in my days at Lafayette, they didn’t have no “No Pigs” sign, because we didn’t have no pet pigs! And we liiiiiiked it!
