anyone else find this a bit funny? Someone woudld break into her house, the weekend before the election, ransack the house, not steal anything but a dog?

    Smells fishy. my 2 cents.

    Why fishy?

Why not you explain what your conspiracy theory is instead of merely posting a link?

Her comment states that she owns the house but she doesn’t actually live there.

getting your name out in the media for free right before the election.

    any publicity is good publicity.

I don’t find the idea of stealing someone’s dog unlikely in itself. A couple of my friends own a Rottweiler and they’ve had a couple of attempted thefts/dognappings.

I lock my doors and disable the sliding door mechanism on my minivan when i leave my shibas long enough to go into a store…

I have already had one instance of someone managing to electronically unlock the car and open the slider to attempt to take them.

the male frightened them off and the two dogs stayed close enough that i was able to recover them.. but it was close.

dog theft it a very real problem

I learned that there have been several dog thefts from locked cars from the pet store in the mall in Mill Valley where the dogs got out.

You don’t have to leave this website to read the story (regardless of what you think of it). Gosh, it’s right on our TOP STORIES list; has been up since yesterday afternoon.

West Seattle Crime Watch: Puppy stolen; garage break-ins

And yes, we have verified there WAS a burglary reported to police there at noon yesterday. The family sent a photo of the dog a while later, then said they didn’t have clearance to use it because they needed approval given its status as a foster dog … they have since re-sent the pic and I’m adding it to the story.

    Because of this…

    https://westseattleblog.com/2011/09/34th-district-democrats-investigation-requested-endorsements-made

…Ms. Toledo’s credibility is suspect and thus anything that she says or does (or that happens to her) will be viewed with a certain amount of skepticism.

Besides that, breaking into a home and *NOT* stealing any computers, televisions, electronics, money, jewelry, burr grinders (because burr grinders are awesome!), etc. but stealing a puppy…that’s weird by itself.

I say that as someone who might’ve voted for Ms. Toledo when I first moved here, when I didn’t really know the candidates as well as I should have. :(

Politics sure is a dirty business. Here we have a family who (by the grace of God) were out of the house when a possible home-invasion occurred, and Joe McDermott’s spin-miester’s go to work on how to attack Mrs. Toledo.

We’ve already seen how they destroyed a local Charity in order to smear her name http://www.unifiedoutreachalert.org/

Can we at least show a little concern over the children and the missing puppy? I hope Diana Toledo wins in a landslide.

To Diana and her brother’s family. Hope your foster dog is found soon. Your family must be frantic. Sending out positive thoughts that the puppy is found safe and sound. So glad none of you were home when the break in occurred. When a burgler is surprised, that’s when people get hurt.

For those of you that ‘assume’ The Toledo’s are lying about the break in and/or find it weird that only the dog was taken…It’s possible someone saw the pup and wanted it (yes, people steal pets out of yards, houses, cars, etc.). Pit puppies are very popular, especially with Dog Fighters. Or Maybe the pup was barking–alerting the surrounding neighborhood, and the person grabbed it and ran. I just hope the pup is safe and unharmed.

WestBirdles…you do not know whether posters are Joe McDermott supporters or not. And Diana’s brother is responsible for what he happened to Unified Outreach–no one else. Stop assuming the worst about people that support Joe…I support Joe and do not appreciate being painted with your broad brush.

Funkietoo: You mean Ms. Toledo’s brother, the Schrödinger’s cat of campaign managers? Besides that, she ultimately is responsible for what her campaign does and saying that “no one else” is responsible means she is unqualified to be a leader. If she can’t keep her campaign (and family) in line, exactly *why* should she win an election?

For the record, I’m not assuming Ms. Toledo is lying about the stolen puppy; perhaps she is being honest. However, I don’t believe she was honest regarding the Unified Outreach shenanigans. And puppies typically fetch far less money than plasma screen televisions at the pawn shop and require far less newspaper to clean up after.

Perhaps Ms. Toledo is one of those people in which weird things keep happening but it is never her fault. In which case, perhaps reality television would be a better choice for her than public office.

    OMG!!! They steal burr grinders???!!!!!

I do hope the puppy is found safe. 7 weeks is so young, so vulnerable.

This is your only post here and you registered a couple of minutes before posting and yet you refer to some one else as a spinmeister?

In a few days you can go back to sneaking republicans onto the WA supreme court.

Ken, I noticed that too but we welcome new members and don’t criticize them for being new. Perhaps WestBirdLes (WBL) has been reading the blog for a long time but never commented on the forums until a specific subject struck a chord. Who knows?

Now that I have “defended” WBL I must admit that I find the Toledo campaign to be deceitful and I would not vote for her. It has nothing to do with McDermott and everything to do with Toledo. I have no opinion on who I think should win. Only one person that I think should not win. After reading that campaign paper that her brother produced I was astonished by the whole thing. It will all be a moot point in a day or so. . . . I, too, hope the puppy is returned safe and sound.

Her “artwork” campaign signs as you are headed to the bridge are very alluring.

Follow-up: I did a ‘whois’ search on the link provided by WestBirdLes, “Unifiedoutreachalert.org.”

    http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/unifiedoutreachalert.org

A Google search of the registrant’s phone number (2063338118) returns this page…

WestBirdLes’ link is more propaganda from the Toledo campaign.

does anyone else find this as distasteful as I do?

    A puppy is missing.

That trumps petty political maneuvering for me any day.

Agreed, JoB. Politics rears it’s ugly head at times when it has no place in the conversation. People need to get over themselves.

Here is a funny theory. Call me crazy, but maybe the puppy ran out the door when someone kicked it in.

Then…..someone sees a pitbull puppy on the street and grabs it.

@HMC Rich: “Some of you really are jerks.”

    And the rest are gullible.

Ms. Toledo’s campaign was dishonest in the Unified Outreach thing, she lied in an interview with The Stranger regarding gay marriage, and I’ve shown that the link posted above is really just campaign propaganda pretending to be newsletter from a civic organization. This gal has demonstrated that she has serious issues with integrity!

I am shocked at how willing people here are to let their emotional responses (there’s a reason that pets, especially dogs, are used prolifically in all forms of advertisement, including ads for campaigns) eclipse their critical-thinking abilities.

There are too many people in America whose BS detectors are broken.

so for the rest of her life, anything that Diana Toledo says, or anything that may happen to her criminally may be a lie to be doubted? Are we all really that cynical? Do you honestly believe that her whole life and that of her family can only operate in a politically motivated way? The dog was stolen…she didn’t make it up. The reports from neighbors about the police presence can’t be dismissed. There are reports on the blog of doors being kicked in often , yet people are skeptical that it might have happened in this instance, too?

I don’t know Diana Toledo, I don’t support her politically, I have read the stories of her and her brother’s past problems. But I won’t judge this occasion because of it. Geez!

who is to say who is being gullible

us.. for being more concerned about the dog than the political tattle

or you.. for buying the political tattle?

i know what answer i choose.

    @JoB: Are you calling this…

34th District Democrats: Investigation requested; endorsements made

…”political tattle?” Because I’d argue that it’s something seen very rarely these days–something called *journalism*.

I feel like that XKCD cartoon with the dude praying, “God…I’d like to file a bug report.”
