JoBParticipantthat’s a drag…
i want to ignore the poster.. not necessarily the topic…
tho i suppose that will slow down some temper flares:)
November 10, 2008 at 8:15 pm #645865
JoBParticipantTR..
can this be fixed?
i really don’t care that much about contentious topics.. but it is a real bummer to be unable to find the next topic on your list because someone you ignored just posted.

beachdrivegirlParticipantOut of cuiosity, to anyone using the PM function, are there wierd times being sent with the messages? Or is that a setting somehow on my computer?
November 10, 2008 at 11:37 pm #645867
AnonymousInactiveBDG it’s happening on mine too.
November 11, 2008 at 11:03 am #645868
WSBKeymasterI mentioned that bug earlier in this thread.
https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=2554&page=2#post-35195
bbPress (forum) and WordPress (rest of site) are open source and continuously under development – but that particular bug hasn’t been fixed yet; bbPress is working toward its official 1.0 release. (Funny to think something that’s been in use more than a year is still pre-1.0, but this remains the best possible forum software for integration with WP.)
Re: the weird times, someone please explain? I looked at my PM inbox and I see date/time stamps for message but nothing “weird” looking, at least by my definition (granted, it’s a subjective term) …

beachdrivegirlParticipantSubject To Date Delete
Sorry i missed you XXXXX 11/11/08 at 04:26:19 PM ; I just sent this message right now @ 8:27 a.m. When it sends and the recepient receives it the time that shows is the 4:26 pm. Not srue why that is happening?
November 11, 2008 at 6:40 pm #645870
JoBParticipantTR…
i understood that the thread that you were posting on would become unavailable to you if you ignored someone who was the last poster on that thread.
but something else is also happening.
if you ignore someone.. it appears that any thread upon which they are the last post will not show up on your list of topics until someone else posts on it.
That wouldn’t be such a problem, but it appears that this glitch is being exploited by people who post on a thread they have no real interest in and hold a conversation.. thereby blocking access to that thread by anyone who has ignored them.
i have dubbed it topic jamming.
it’s possible it’s not intentional on their part.. but it certainly looks that way and is a real downfall for using the ignore feature.

AnonymousInactiveHmmm… I haven’t noticed anything like what you are describing.
I think the new features are GREAT! I, for one, am really enjoying the enhancements of the forum, TR
THANK YOU!!!!
November 11, 2008 at 8:14 pm #645872
beachdrivegirlParticipantAlso, just a heads up, if you do not put a subject in the subject line the recipient can not open the PM. Or at least I havent figured out how to..so if anyone has suggestions let me know!

flowerpetalMemberWell this seems as good a place as any to test drive my new avatar. It’s actually several flowerpetals; on a Carolina Allspice!

WSBKeymasterAce Tech Guy is looking into the time stamp (looks like it’s on GMT which is fairly common with web stuff if you don’t reprogram) and also into whether he can possibly rewrite ‘ignore’ which is somebody else’s plug-in code. Working, working … keep the feedback coming.
November 13, 2008 at 4:25 pm #645875
beachdrivegirlParticipantThanks TR! All of your hard work is very much appreciated! :)

MaxParticipantI have not read the entire thread, so my apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but…
What happens when you PM someone, or when someone PMs you? I have sent PMs, and I think others have sent PMs to me, but the only time I can see my list of PMs is right after I send one. Should there be some email notification or some way on the site to track PMs down?
December 9, 2008 at 5:05 pm #645880
flowerpetalMemberMax, on the forum page, under the list of latest topics should be a smaller banner that is titled “views.” This is one place to look at your PM activity. Also, if you have a new PM waiting to be read by you, there will be a note of that near the top of the forum page. I will send you one so you can look for the notification.
December 10, 2008 at 3:38 am #645881
MaxParticipantAha! If I go to the main forum page after I have logged in, I see this. But generally I just start reading, decide I want to post something, and then log in. I typically never get back to the main forum page then, so I have never seen it.

MargLMemberAny news on the GMT timestamp issue for PMs? :-)

AimParticipantko how the heck do I post an image? I tried using standard markup (img src=””) but it’s not working.
