We’re thinking about ditching Verizon for CREDO. I am seeking feedback from anyone who has it. How are the plans, how is the coverage, etc.

    thanks in advance!

HM…Credo uses Sprint. When I had it it was pretty good. Phone selection seemed to be the cast-offs, but I haven’t checked lately, and plans seemed to be equal or better than what others had. Have you checked out Virgin Mobile (Beyond Talk)? It’s Pay as you go sorta, but not really..they deduct the charge from my account every month. For $60 (their highest), you get unlimited everything. I use the lower one at $25/mnth…300 minutes, unlimited texts, web. Decent phones.

Interesting – are you switching because of poor service? I was just reading the latest issue of Consumer Reports and Verizon is rated the top provider in most areas, including Seattle. Sprint is 2nd and AT&T is the absolute worst. Was considering the switch _to_ Verizon as we have AT&T now. Not that I’ve had a horrible experience with AT&T, myself. We still have Credo for long distance on the Land Line and used to have them (pre-name change) for Mobile. Wasn’t terribly happy with the service at the time – Sprint was really spotty in the Mid-west when we were traveling – or the phone selection but that’s probably changed over the years.

we’re switching for a few reasons. First reason being the cost – we’re with Verizon now with three lines. we don’t even have data, and it’s $130 per month. Second is honestly the politics – I like what CREDO stands for.

Verizon – at least my phone – has pretty spotty coverage in Arbor Heights, too. but again, that might be my piece of crap phone. :)

I asked this same question about 6-9 months ago, since I get daily emails from Credo, and grew to hate Verizon; though I can never figure out how to search for old threads on this forum; there was a lot of great feedback if you can find it; I was with Verizon for almost 10 yrs, way too much $$$ and the service and reception was horrible

I switched to Virgin Mobile PayLo few months ago; same amount of mins for $21.90 that Verizon charged me $50; my VM phone was only $20; so even with buying a new phone, I saved money in first month; and my VM service has been perfect, never a dropped call, never a “can you hear me now?”; VM also uses Sprint; I only use cell for calls; I don’t text or any of the other snazzy stuff; so VM is fantastic for my needs

I begged Verizon to fix the service issues over and over; they finally responded after I fired them, with a survey about “why did you leave us?”

Here’s the previous thread from 9 months ago, Diane:

Searching on WSB threw me the first few times as well, because your search results open in a new browser tab or window, AND because the search is powered by Google, so they look like Google search results and not anything like WSB. Once I figured that out, I discovered it actually works pretty well. One thing that’s nice is being able to use Google’s Search Tools in the left sidebar, so you can easily narrow the results by a time frame. Especially useful when looking for current events.
