Jack – We have a child at Sealth and I can honestly say that we are very pleased. It is a smaller high school and that has given my child a great advantage. All kids can truly participate in all the after school activities that they want. This has been a big boon to us, kids can get connected with the school pretty fast whether it is sports, drama, band, cultural clubs etc.
I am pleased with the academics. The classes are smaller than at some of the larger high schools and the level of education that our child has received is excellent. Currently our child is in the 10 grade and in the ‘honors’ or pre IB curriculum. Our child is challenged, yet supported – what a great combo!
I love the fact that the school is in West Seattle, it is close to where we live and close to SSCC if they choose to go to running start instead of IB.
All of our child’s friends feel safe. We have had some friends transfer to Sealth from either Vashon or other Seattle schools to attend Sealth. The addition of the IB program was a big reason we choose to attend Sealth, even if we do not go that route and instead go with the running start program.
