Recycle bins missing, there at it again…

Recyle bin was there this am, this eve after pick up it has vanished. 2700 block of 44th anyone elses vanish??

Hey Julie, that is what happened to me a while back. My post is buried in the forums somewhere. Apparently the older style bin is not a good match to their trucks so they spontaniously recycle the bin too and don’t tell you. It takes a couple of weeks if you order a new one online (no charge but still seems like a waste and someone is making money on the new bins)

I happened to be home when they did mine. It was the day after pickup, and a guy in a white box truck pulled up and parked in front of my house, walked up my driveway and dragged my old style recycle bin down to his truck. He then put out a new style one. No notification of any type, just “surprise! You have a new bin!”

The new ones are about 20% smaller than the old ones, I believe. I didn’t verify the # of gallons on either of them, so I may be fooled by the streamlined look of the new one, but I’m a little annoyed that they seem to have downsized the bin. We recycle 90% of our outgoing waste and generally fill the bin completely each week, so it makes a difference to me.

My old bin was in perfectly good condition, too. I wonder how much has been spent replacing perfectly usable bins with new ones.

this happened to us a few weeks ago, evidently the old bins don’t fit the lift on the trucks so they are having to replace all the bins. Yes….our tax dollars at work.
