anonymeParticipantUnfortunately I don’t know his name – my bad. I’ll find out. There is a young Asian gentleman, shaved head, who works at the Southwest branch of the library on 35th. This guy is always patient and sweet – which seems so amazing to an old grump like myself! He is so consistently kind and helpful that I wanted to put out a rave so that (hopefully) others will notice, too.

chrismaParticipantLibrarians rock!

gunnerddogMemberHis name is Robert and he is indeed one of the best librarians around. He is always offering to help patrons with questions, suggestions, and ideas. I’ve lost things at the library and he has gone above and beyond to help me find them. In general, Robert rocks! Also a special shout out to Amy at High Point/Delridge. She’s got the best story times in town.

vhMemberI agree. He is so pleasant, and deserves two large thumbs up! I also would like to thank the rest of the SW library staff for their hard work.

hammyMemberWe like Robert too. He always goes out of his way to help find things for us. We enjoy seeing him and he always has some nice words for our children. We have a wonderful library system here in Seattle.

wrenMemberAs a librarian myself who moved out here a couple of months ago. I just wanted to agree that librarians do indeed rock. I am enjoying getting to know the libraries in West Seattle. I am also looking for work and I’m thinking about volunteering at one. Does anyone know how to go about that?

miwsParticipantanonyme and others, there is one happy librarian here at SW branch right now!
I showed Robert this thread, and, quoting: “…..made my day!”
I know how he feels. Pretty much all of my jobs have involved face to face interaction with customers, and a kind word, a note to the bosses, (especially for the above and beyond stuff) is truly rewarding!
wren, here is a linky thingy to volunteer opportunities:

anonymeParticipantThat’s great, Mike! Thanks for showing this to Robert. I knew it wouldn’t be a secret for long…and that was the point. I’ll try to bring this thread to the attention of library administration, or perhaps contact them in person. Whenever I encounter someone doing an exceptional job in any field, I try to let their superiors know. Too often people are extremely vocal when they’re unhappy about something, but strangely quiet when they encounter good service by wonderful people. Robert belongs in the “best of” category.

Amy LParticipantI’m Amy, the librarian at the High Point and Delridge Branches. Thank you–this totally made my day for two reasons.
First, thank you Gunnerddog for mentioning my story times. I love presenting and put a lot of thought into how I can improve each story time. It was a nice surprise to see that mentioned.
But more than that, I love to see credit go out to my dear friend and wonderful co-worker, Robert. His attitude and knowledge of library services make him one of the best employees at SPL.

DMParticipantOur Seattle Library system is my favorite destination for my tax dollars! The Delridge branch is my primary library. I adore and appreciate their Librarians: so engaged, helpful and personable, all of them. I also love the SW Branch for the same reasons. I hope they all read this. Thank you!
