JanSParticipanta wonderful, sweet, baking smell, coming from the west…something that smells that good couldn’t possibly be coming from Safeway, could it? It has the wonderful smell of…cake…lots and lots of cake :) My thanks to the baker …

TheVelvetBulldogMemberHi Jan, how are you doing? I was almost felled by the smell of yeasty goodness coming from a Specialtys bakery downtown this morning! I’m sort of amazed I was able to resist.
.
Did you hear (this was from a while ago) that someone actually brought a lawsuit against Hersheys for making the town smell like chocolate? Because the smell was pervasive, it was considered an invasive toxin or some such nonsense. You know what? Give me chocolate over rotting fish (under the WS bridge) diesel bus fumes (everywhere) and paper mills (Tacoma) any day!!!

SueParticipantI work near Specialty’s downtown, and the smell that comes out of there is just evil – making me go in like that. LOL!
A lawsuit against Hershey’s for making the town smell like chocolate is ridiculous. You don’t move to (or visit) Hershey if the smell bothers you. My grandparents lived near there so we went often as kids; the stench of chocolate is really overwhelming, but I’d never sue them to change it!
Back in New Jersey I used to drive pass a Nabisco factory nearly every day, and if the wind was just right you’d smell the baked goods from there. That was always fun to try and guess what you were smelling. :)

JenVMemberon certain days downtown, if the wind is blowing just right- the whole area smells like sugar donuts from the Hostess factory.
conversely, if you’re riding your bike past Sea-Freeze on a hot day…phew!

charlabobParticipantHershey’s is moving (offshore) — moving some candy production to Mexico. Guess the folks in Pa. won’t have to worry anymore :-)
