MTMParticipantLately, I’ve had a need to visit bike shops and have gotten a little put out at the attitudes at some of those shops. Yes, it’s true that I don’t know all there is to know about my bicycle, but that’s why I go to a bicycle shop – to get information as well receive fixes, purchase gear and ask for advice. I have received instead, eye rolling at one shop, attempts to bamboozle me into a larger purchase at another (I’m not totally stupid about bikes) and yet another that allowed me to stand around while the younger guys packed up and chatted, ignoring families, women and older people waiting for service.
With one exception: Alki Bike and Board. Their mechanics and floor people are friendly, helpful and their prices very reasonable! They not only fixed my bike but did a couple of extra small fixes at no charge and helped me upgrade some of my gear at a reasonable cost. They were also very fast and gave me great advice. They are going to be my “go-to” bike shop from now on!

webshafParticipantIt’s the only place I take my bike. Last year, I took the bike my neighbor’s children are learning on..the chain kept falling off and the new bikers were getting frustrated…Alki Bike and Board made the fix for free…they are the best!
