organicpleaseParticipantSomeone took 10 blue and white laminated ‘plant sale’ signs. 7 were take from the west side of Delridge starting at the corner of the police station and heading south. They then took one more from the hairpin turn on 21st sw. and 2 more from the intersection of 21st sw and Webster. These there re-used political signs cut down to size with the metal prong stakes to stick in the grass. The signs were taken prior to 5:00 pm; the last person to attend my sale on that Sunday had a very hard time finding me due to the missing signs. Perhaps someone was just being mean and or they needed the signs to re-use for their own garage/yard sale. Would love to have at least the laminated sign parts with my address back ; I use
the same signs every year; not inexpensive to produce.

StargaterMemberMaybe somebody was just sick of seeing your signs all over the place cluttering up the neighborhood. I know I am!!!

GoGoParticipantIf this is the lady that I bought plants from last weekend (I’m the one with the two Boston Terriers in the car) she is a wonderful, kind and informative person and her signs are very small and tasteful. Give her a break.

StargaterMemberSmall yes, but all over Delridge – EVERY week! It does not matter if she is kind. I was referring to an entire row of signs stretching half a block. One or even two signs should be fine.

BBGuestMemberGot to put in my two cents too. I find the number of signs distracting, and won’t be at all disappointed if they all disappear!

GenHillOneParticipantI’m not entirely sure those signs are/were legal. It’s technically illegal to place campaign signs on public property, isn’t it? I can’t imagine it would be different for commercial purposes.

The sheer volume may have drawn enough attention that someone didn’t look the other way.

maisylaneMemberI have to speak up on behalf of Organicplease.
I contacted her regarding veggie plants because my family is in need of assistance. My husband was laid off from Microsoft over a year ago and has been unable to find work. Our finances are so depleted that I’ve now on WIC, EBT and have even gone to food banks to try to feed our 3 children decent food. I would have no problems keeping up with their hunger if I wanted to feed them junk food all day but fruits and veggies are very expensive and oddly, the hardest items to get assistance to cover. When I decided to reach out to the community to figure out how to grow our own veggies, this plant seller was more than kind. Not only did she basically give away enough plants to feed my family of 5 for the summer (and then some!) but she treated us with dignity and respect.
She was so kind and warm. I am saddened to see harsh responses to her reasonable complaint about having property stolen.
Regardless about whether the signs annoy you- the good that she does during her plant sales far outweigh complaints that you have. Saying that it doesn’t matter if she’s kind is just mean.

DPMemberFound your signs, organicplease.
Let me know when a good time to drop them off would be, and I’ll be by.

P.S. No, I was not the one who took them, but you might be able to figure out who did when I tell you how I found them.

organicpleaseParticipantDear DP Member: Sorry I missed your post from 2 days ago. Second, thank you very much for your kind offer. I would love to meet with you. If this evening would work for you anytime after 5:00 pm or the same on this Sat or Sun. Or if you can suggest a time best for you, then I certainly will accommodate your schedule. Thank you again.

DPMemberorganic: Don’t worry about it. As you can see, I dropped the signs off at your place.
FWIW: I found them all stacked up behind the trash can out in front of the Delridge P-patch, along with a number of other signs. Could be someone had a P-patch-related purpose for them. However, I don’t think it was a malicious heist. If it had been, whoever did it most likely wouldn’t have stacked them up nicely and left them like that.

P.S. The ferns I bought from you this spring are still hanging on, if somewhat crisply.

organicpleaseParticipantDP/David:
Thank you again, I did find the signs you dropped off and am very appreciative. I am trying to think positive with the additional information you gave me. I did not post the fact that this person
took more signs on Saturday July 10th at aproximately 3:30 pm as noted by my neighbors. This week I notice that all the SWAC Football Club signs, Football and Cheer Club and all the political signs have been taken also from the vacant triangle lot on Delridge between Webster and Holden.
Do you help with the Pea patch, I do have some French Filet Bean starts that are looking for a good home? Keep the ferns watered even if leaves are crispy as the root structure is important for next spring. Thanks again.
