I love how people that complain about this being a repetitive topic spend a ton of time being repetitive.

This is a topic near and dear to my heart for reasons I will not be repetitive about. I am thrilled each time I see a post about it because it impacts my life and my dogs life daily. I am scared each and every day as a result of off leash dogs.

LOL @ Leroniusmonkfish! ( I can picture Jim now – ala HUGE wind/snow/sleet storm – reporting from Lincoln Park beach). HA! thanks for the levity! I needed it! ;)

And thank you Luludog – I agree. Each day I walk my dog I have to have eyes in the back of my head and be scouting for blocks ahead and all around. It’s SO DAMN exhausting. I just want to enjoy a nice walk/jog with my dog for Chrissakes!

Thanks for the support Angelone! I guess WS Blog posters are as territorial as said dogs -eh? ;)

It won’t deter me from posting again.

Moxiegirl – Welcome to the wonderful world of the WSB…just think of each of your posts akin to “marking your territory” :)

Moxiegirl at post 23: you just said what I’ve wanted to say for a while. Although from everything else I’ve seen, Cait is very nice so lets just all have a virtual hug and play nice.

I wasn’t patronizing you with the cat story… I’m serious, there is this evil cat on 40th who, instead of running away from us like normal cats, charges toward us with its back raised, fur up, claws out. As I’ve stated before, my dog got attacked by an evil kitten back in Idaho and has never quite recovered from it, so this cat absolutely terrifies her (AND ME!!!)

Oh hey EmmyJane – I BELIEVE you about that cat. (I wasn’t referring to you BTW re: Patronizing). I’ve had cat’s do the SAME thing – not budging from their spot when I walk by with my dog – hair raised, etc. They definitely can be horrible and yes, vicious as well. At least with cats, however, (mostly) even when they are mean, you can just steer clear of their ‘space’ and they don’t run up after you. Sounds like that cat on 40th is a reincarnated off leash dog! LOL! :)

    Moxiegirl…

welcome to the never-ending off-leash conversation.

I would like to add that some of us are struggling to keep our on leash dogs from injuring the sweet little darling charging us.

They think they are protecting me… and they will do a good job.

The dog protected by being on leash may be your own :(

it would be so much easier for all of us if everyone obeyed leash laws and listened when a dog owner states their dog isn’t dog or kid friendly…

it isn’t easy being a responsible dog owner these days.

and i don’t even want to talk about the cats wandering the neighborhood and providing hours of entertainment for the dogs.. and headaches and trampled flowerbeds for me.. as they tease from the other side of the fence:(

yes, the never-ending off leash conversation.

I sincerely believe that the issue is important- it’s important to the first person that brings it up, and it’s important to moxie girl. just because it’s the UMPTEENTH time it’s been brought up, doesn’t mean that it’s not important.

I just WISH that people would use the SEARCH function to see if an issue has been brought up already.

that way we wouldn’t have 10 forum topics on off leash dogs, 4 on full tilt ice cream, 4 on cafe revo, a few on cupcake royale…..

maybe in a perfect WSB world, every time someone tries to start a new topic, the website would stop and say WAIT ! here is a forum topic similar to yours- maybe you’d like to add your comment here, and it will bump the topic.

I KNOW. I don’t HAVE TO READ it, so that’s why I posted the links to the other discussions on off leash dogs earlier.

That’s an interesting idea and might work. But it could also deny someone the right to make their own rant, or rave. Would we only then be able to rave or rant on topics that are original? Or would we recall an old post from 2-3 months ago and revive it (and its several pages)so we could add our own rant or rave?

I don’t know.. maybe more of a head’s up!!! sort of thing (similar when you try to delete something, and the computer asks you if you are really SURE you want to delete it). then you can choose to ignore the suggestion to comment on the original topic (or not).

I think you might be onto something. If people used key words when they created a post, perhaps a search could be done to see if other posts already created contained the same key word(s). Then let the poster decide.

TR? would that, could that work? I really like constructive evaluation.

Maybe there should just be a special sub-heading under Rants and Raves for the common topics, like Off leash Dogs – so that you always file your complaint there. I guess however, you want to make sure people see it so it doesn’t get buried. But maybe a sub=heading under R&R and then you can add under that your new post??

Now that I’m in the know – i will do a key word search before I post (IF i EVER do again that is). But again, I want it to be seen and not buried under an old post from 2 months ago.

    hmmmmm…..

To be fair, it is an important topic and I’m not trying to say otherwise. I’m just sick of watching it turn into the circus that it does every time it discussed – and I more often than not avoid it but it’s getting to be asinine. It’s important, it’s a safety concern, but it’s never dealt with as such on the forums. It turns into pointing fingers and people are very passionate about it which leads to impassioned and unneighborly posts – which happened way before I got here but that’s for targeting me Moxie.

Take for example how I clearly stated that I was NOT insinuating that Moxie was a troll (it’s a term for people who come to forums just to get a rise out of people and it’s easy to do here not an ACTUAL troll) – Moxie, I was letting you know that this has been a playground for that type of activity before which is why you were greeted with such disdain by many of us. I’m sorry it happened, but while the conversation is inevitable the problem doesn’t have to be – and this isn’t the way to change it.

We ALL need to lighten the hell up. Seriously. A dog is off leash, it poses a threat, and it’s inconvenient and illegal. But you know what? The time has come that people DO something about this and not play it out here where it’s easy and nothing happens as a result. It’s so easy to rant – it’s harder (and incidentally more productive) to DO something and be proactive. Talk to the community counsels of West Seattle about asking for a task force on this. Peoples minds won’t be changed here on this topic.

And yes – a subheading just for this would be great. And one for noisy kids.

And Moxie – flower is right. I always try to be nice on here but this was about the last straw for me. Feel free to discuss anything else with me and I’d probably be able to talk to you calmly about it – same with the other folks on here that were less than welcoming when it comes to this. It wasn’t necessarily your original post that upset me it was just more obvious on this thread than others that the replies follow a pattern. And it ain’t pretty, as you can see by my post and how you responded to me.

Well for the record Cait, I didn’t say you were nice; EmmyJane did; and should get that credit. However, if I had thought about it, I would have said you were nice!
