how come there is not a light at Frontenac and California right by Gatewood School? Parents have to pick their kids up in this small street then take forever to get out because there is not a four way light there. It’s also just not safe because you cannot see if cars are coming because of the parked cars in the way. It just seems so odd to me that there is not a light there to help things move along more smoothly and most importantly to help children stay safe.

Have you tried contacting the city? You can even just try an email through the city of seattle website.

Last week, the Morgan Community Association was notified that a request made in 2007 to improve pedestrian safety along California had been funded through the Bridging the Gap program. If you go to the second page of this PDF link,

http://www.cityofseattle.net/transportation/btg_nsf_2010.htm , this is what they say about that location:

California at Frontenac – Replace the curb on the southwest corner and add truncated domes to existing curb ramps. Replace the “Push Button” signs (SDOT will do in 2010). SDOT will also add pedestrian countdown signals in 2012 (no funding needed for this improvement).

Since the information about this project came in after the MoCA May meeting, it will be on the agenda for the July 21 meeting.
