heres some attention to detail: drive around it. both Alaska st and 4th avenue can deliver everyone to their destination sans complaining about conditions of a road thats being repaired. Or GASP, don’t drive at all! take a bus, or park off the street in question and walk to your destination, I know its complicated but trust me it works for tons of people.

Nice suggestion on taking detours, but the pavement on those roads suck just as bad as 1st Ave. Why should I have to cross over to 4th and risk getting stuck at two train crossings when I should be able to drive safely down 1st? Or take Alaska and risk getting stuck at the lower bridge? It’s a no-win situation for those of that live in WS and work in SODO.

For the record, I’ve taken Metro consistently to SODO for five years now and recently gave it up for a reserved parking spot. Even if I were on the bus, I’d still be complaining about this. Love the dog/cupcake photo though Vincent. I saw that clip on the Soup a few months ago and thought it was hilarious.

Call the waaahbulence people have to drive around, a whole block and its HARD. Your not entitled to use a road 100% of the time, and sorry occasionally they have to work on it.

Also, you will not sway me with comments about stains the cupcake dog, no matter how fun they are.

    Vincent..

it’s clear that you don’t use that route at all.

You can’t use 4th unless you use Roxbury to exit West Seattle because access to 4th from the West Seattle Bridge is closed and the construction is.. or at least was last time i used it… before the detour to 4th.

You can use the low bridge and the street that leads to the waterfront but you play dodgeball with the trucks accessing the port and the new construction if you do.

Oh.. and if it’s a game day.. you literally can’t get to Jackson st from there…

If you use 1st you play dodgeball with the buses.

the construction projects in that area were not planned with alternate routing in mind.

JoB: When I ride my scooter into work I take the low bridge/Alaskan Way (that’s “the street that leads to the waterfront”) route and have never had an issue “playing dodgeball with the trucks.” Yes, there are a lot of trucks down there, and the road’s not in great shape, but I feel much safer on Alaskan Way than on First Ave S. (and not because of the construction; more just the way people drive on First).

Toot toot! I noticed on my drive to work today that a lot of the bigger potholes were finally fixed by SDOT…woo hoo! Thanks to all who wrote to the SDOT to get them fixed. My third email wasn’t very kind so maybe that finally prompted someone to fix the problem :)
