CLOSING DISCUSSION ITEM NEEDED RECEIVED**THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO OFFERED AND MADE VERY GOOD SUGGESTIONS!***We have been taking care/feeding a cat that was left to fend for himself these past 2 years in our neighborhood and he’s been doing good as expected for a homeless cat up until about week ago, he came to get food one night and had an eye injury we finally got him trapped and took to the Vet where they cleaned eye up, antibiotics and neutered. He’s on his way back tonight and we’d like to have an outdoor house for him to go into if he wants, right now we have one ordered but it won’t be here for a few days. We have a senior cat inside only and this is why we can’t let this one in, anyways I don’t think he’d much enjoy being an inside cat. If anyone has anything that might work and wants to get rid of it please let me know.
    Thank you!

OMGosh poor kitty and bless you for helping. Would even a cardboard box and some old blankets help?

Husband got home from work a little while ago and we hunted in our garage and basement and found a big cardboard box cut a couple doorways in it and some old sheets for tonight so he should be OK until the one gets delivered tomorrow. But thank you so much for offering something/ideas Vanessa!!!

The cat as I expected did not use the makeshift box/shelter last night he went to wherever it is that he goes to sleep. I guess he made it thru the snow we had few months back so this cold last night well, hope he has a warm spot. Maybe the shelter we’re getting today will be more appealing and he’ll slowly trust it to use! fingers crossed.

Dear FCM, are you positive it’s a stray? I had a very similar situation with an elder cat, and thought for sure it was a stray. But she would disappear for days, and I thought it must have another home. Long story short, after placing on lost pets notices everywhere with no response, I finally pinned on note on a collar I put on her, and sure enough one of our neighbors called. They too wondered why it would disappear for days on end.
    Case solved.

Vanessa, I have posted signs and also posted on internet format’s with no response. Our neighborhood to get into it you come to a “T” and have to turn right or left so everyone who comes in has to see my “who’s cat is this” sign. If I tried to put a collar/note on him he’d take off like a bat outta hell he butts his head on my hand when giving him food but that is about all I can do so I am sure he is homeless :>( we’ll just keep doing as we have been and hopefully he won’t get anymore injuries. The Vet he went to also said he was too feral to do anything with until they sedated him to neuter and they of course scanned for a chip and there wasn’t one.
Thank you for your concerns and ideas!

There is someone giving away a nearly new great looking foam cooler on Buy Nothing Admiral.
I have seen posts where they are used as insulation in an 18 gallon tote
    used for a cat home.

Janet, Thank you—-we received the shelter I ordered and it’s all ready to go for him if he chooses to sleep in it. It is filled with straw and has a catnip toy waiting inside for him :>)
