bsmommaParticipantWe’re at 42nd/Admiral and the last few nights starting at about 9pm I start to hear a helicopter sound and it’s still going at 6am! I am assuming it’s from Harbor Island. It’s very irritating for a very light sleeper. I much prefer the sea lions! :)

inactiveMemberI am very curious now…(I have never heard the hum, btw) what is this sound like, exactly. Is it metallic sounds of different parts of a “thing” Hammering versus grating sounds? Sound of wind, like wind from a big fan? or something else? Is there a distinct engine sound? Is there a rhythym? Like clink clink thud woosh clink clink thud woosh, for example.,How would you all describe what you heard AND what time.
I ask only because I heard some “stuff” mid-morning this am out walking, but nothing at all over the weekend. So i do have a sense of where these sounds were coming from and I’ll try to go check it out more closely if I hear it again and if anybody can describe more specifically what they heard.
I think the way sound travels around water is kind of fascinating, yes? Though I am sorry it is depriving folks of sleep.

WednesdayMemberTo me it sounded like either a helicopter or a ferry boat engine at full throttle. We only distinctly heard it that one night.

I WonderMemberBack to JimmyG’s post #4, heard the same thing at 4 am, followed by a large jet engine blasting (yes at 4:30am) similar to the jets taking off and landing at Boeing Field. Have heard the same hum and some vibration also every night since. Somewhat baffling as to what can carry so far and wide, it seems like a generator in its consistency. Close to Genessee Hill.

PK22MemberI have been talking with John Vidale regarding this and it seems even him and his colleagues don’t really know what this sound could be?
