as a small employer the City now tells me how to provide benefits to my employees that is BS. in my case it is moot since i provide PTO; but it is very annoying for the government to tell a private business how to compensate other adults.

Boo boo, if it’s such a problem you shouldn’t own a business. If not you shouldn’t be such a complainer.

smythe you miss the point – the government has no business in private party affairs. as an employer it is my interest to compensate my employees in a fair an equitable manner to keep them happy and productive. it is annoying when government tells me how to compensate my employees; and yes i do not support the minimum wage either!

I don’t care about your politics. If this has any effect on you you are doing something wrong. If not you’re complaining about something that doesnt matter. Either way you’re wrong.

Good one, plenty to base your position on there. Just remember, those who are rabid about wanting government to go away such as yourself are usually the ones who rely on it the most.

i do not rely on government and it annoys me no end that so many people expect government to bail them out.

So, hoop, do you levitate the hoopmobile above Admiral Way, as you’re cruising along at a nice 40-50mph clip, so that you don’t actually use the road, thereby not relying on Government?

Hooper1961- This law does apply to your small business, do your employees the justice they deserve. Also I sincerely hope that you verify their employment eligilibility status.

    hoop,

The law applies to businesses with 4 or more FTE’s, how many do you employ?

i pay one of my employees $15/hour and the other $17.25. they also accrue paid time off at the rate of 2.4 hours per 40 hours worked that far exceeds the nanny state mandate of 1 hour per 40 hours worked.

my issue is that the City has no business intruding on private business contracts.

I completely agree with you Hooper. This is one of the reasons why our jobs are overseas and businesses are reluctant to reinvest. The “give me give me”, “you didn’t build it”, and “you owe it all to government” attitude is downright disgusting. As we work our asses off to try to scratch out a living and put Americans to work, the government portrays us as the enemy. It’s almost as if government wants everybody to be public employees…

I am not sure of your type of business, but you may want to look at moving it outside the city limits, White Center or Burien for example. I know several, including myself, which have already done so or are considering it.

Believe it or not, you’ll find that there are laws and taxes and government in both White Center and Burien.

awww, FFS…that old “you didn’t build it” complaint, again? I suppose you’re against being licensed as a business, or paying any business taxes. You simply want to do what you want, when you want, no interference, no regulation. Let’s just do away with all laws as far as businesses are concerned. Or do we leave it up to you what regulations yu should honor? The quote above referred to infrastructure, not about you building your business. You all need to get over yourselves, and start telling the truth. Picking quotes, and then misrepresenting them is getting old…and we’re not that stupid.

“And no bike lanes and plastic bag bans!”

Let’s check back in on that in 3-5 years.

yea.. and the ones that shout “roads and bridges” forget who pays the taxes to build em’…. let’s see ya ride that money losing metro without those business taxes! Or the fuel taxes… we see where government knows so much about fair compensation… going broke doing it.

    #767390

What’s the name of your “business”, Hooper? How about you, Kootchman? Since you both seem so proud of your conservative principles, I’m sure you won’t mind a bit of free advertising! Then we can all admire your success! Real self-made men, raised by your own bootstraps!

Or is any of your BS ever true? lol…

Based on the comments is this thread that have been deleted I doubt many of you would even be posting on this board if you knew how right wing the operators, who make a point of not editorializing in fear that you would notice, actually are.
