valeriejMemberMy husband and I are moving to West Seattle and are considering the town houses on Delridge, can anyone tell me what the neighborhood is like and is there much crime? He will be working in Seattle so we would like to be near a bus route so he can leave the car behind. What are the rents like near the junction?

HunterGParticipantWelcome Valeriej! West Seattle is a great place to live, I’m excited for you and your husband to be joining our happy little community.
One of my coworkers (single female) lives in the Delridge neighborhood and has never had any problems. It has cleaned up a whole heck of a lot since I first moved to White Center/Delridge area about 10 years ago.
In any city there is always a bad element, but in West Seattle we are blessed to have less crime as compared to other areas in the Seattle. The most you should have to deal with is raccoons and coyotes!
Where are you relocating from?

MagpieParticipantI can say that if you are looking for great bus service, the 120 that goes that way ran as much as 5 times in a half an hour during the worst snow in decades. Even when no other buses were coming, there were plenty of Delridge buses! I lived on Delridge in the 70’s and 80’s and it has really cleaned up.
If you have pets, the animals need to stay inside because Delridge has pretty high traffic and the coyotes.

Mike D.Participantvaleriej,
A couple ideas on how you can get a feel for the North part of the Delridge neighborhood:
1) Meet a number of people who live and or work in the North Delridge neighborhood by helping out at this Saturday mornings Adopt-A-Street litter pick up of Delridge Way. Details are here: https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=13670
2) Attend the monthly meeting of the North Delridge Neighborhood Council which meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Delridge Library from 6:30 > 7:45pm
